Yes mate, it's been on for three or four days now .... eeeee them were the days ...
Just contemplating it.......
It's pretty nippy and SWMBO has disappeared downstairs - counting the secs until I hear the boiler fire up!
Yes mate, it's been on for three or four days now .... eeeee them were the days ...
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Not as yet but I think that after a couple of moans from the wife over the last day or so that it wont be too long now
Soft Southerners !
Up here in Aberdeenshire we don't put the heating on until Xmas day........... that's the wife's Christmas present sorted !
No.......................... but it's only a matter of time, the wife and daughters have been whispering.................
F.T.F.A.
Our thermostat is only set at about 17/18 degrees, but the heating has been coming on for the last few days now.

Skating away on the thin ice of a new day
I bled the radiators, topped up the combi boiler and turned up the thermostat. It's now warm and toastie again.
There she blows!!!!
Though I think it might be cheaper to start a nice fire with a few tenners!
Bunch of softies. Put a jumper on. Not even an option at ours until October at the very earliest.
Gas fire is on but we are still resisting putting the boiler on.
Any day now, I'm trying to resist but the house is freezing!
Yep, but only to dry the clothes out when I got bl**dy soaked. It's raining good and proper down here in the tropical south!
first thing this morning to warm the house, 20 mins was all it needed, warm now sun on the back of the house greenhouse effect in full swing, but will later when watching telyl to stop the wifes blood from clotting.
Had it on last night, winter duvet will be coming out soon. Bit earlier this year, probably start to warm up again once the duvet is out!
A couple of gentle log fires to dry the chimney out ready for some seriously toasty stuff but it's not been cold enough for the central heating to kick in down here yet....
Two wood burners and three ton of logs. Let's crack on.
The heating in my house has been on now for over a week.
This whole issue even featured as an item on Radio 4's Today programme. Apparently it is a major cause of domestic, male/female strife at this time of year.
Personally I would not betray my Northern principles by turning the heating on before 1st December. Unfortunately my Danish partner brings her Nordic expectations that a house is kept warm in winter (you know, insulation, triple glazing and such like un-English innovations).
already started, a couple hours here and there, weather still so temperamental today, pouring down now the sun is still shining, roll on crimbo.....
1st December or later is always the target for me - usually get to stick to it. - but this year I am off to the Sun (hopefully) for the next 8 weeks, so the heating might be put on as soon as I get back!
It's just a matter of time...
This afternoon in London got a bit chilly so, yes.
Up in North..... London we've been putting the heating on since last week
Ours kicked in for the first time this morning. Wasn't on for long though.
I had a new, allegedly highly efficient combination boiler installed in June, together with a very complicated programmer. The heating kicked in a couple of days ago, and I'm slowly getting to grips with the programmer/thermostat thingy. I'm doing the "bloke" thing and using The Force to program it, as opposed to reading the instructions, but so far it's going well.
The old boiler was about 60-65% efficient, whereas the new one is supposed to be 90-95%. With that and new windows and doors, I'm looking forward to not only staying very warm this winter, but my energy supplier should be paying me every month from now on.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
It's almost 15c here, so no need for heating!
Only to check it is all working before it starts to get cold.
Did bleed the radiators though.
Won't be long now though.
Getting a combi boiler fitted next week but can tell the wife is getting edgie so it will be on soon......
Not yet. Swmbo has made a couple of noises but it's not cold enough yet. We have An oil boiler and it chugs through about 100 litres a week in the coldest part of the year so we need to save ourselves for when we really need it!
Unsure if we should change it for a modern gas combi as we now have this available in our village.
Nope - more money spent on energy would be less to spend on watches.
The cardigans are on but I have relented and had the fire on in the lounge tonight.
Switched it on this afternoon to stop the family (and the cat) whinging.
Yep...went on tonight
Yep bloody freezing this morning
Co incidentally our summer bill just came in used £1.76 of gas
Nah. I'm going try to hold out as long as possible. The family has guessed dates next month when it might happen. I took the end of the month, my daughter chose the 15th, but wifey picked the first. She's on me already!
I'm resisting, my energy bill went from £80 to £111 per month last year.
I've seen people wearing scarves in the last week. We're so dramatic in this country...a few degrees warmer, everyone gets out their t-shirts and flip flops (arrggggggh). A few degrees colder and the scarves come out. It's nowhere near THAT cold!

First frost up here and we now have snow to be seen out of the front window
No still a steady 21c on an evening inside. When it drops to 16c we put our fleeces on LOL Less than that... on it goes.
Rod
I'm over in KL but Mrs. Mark put ours on in Aberdeen this morning apparently.
Don't be silly, it's only September......................................... ....... maybe time to wear a jumper though
Of course, it has been on for a week!
Softy Southerners or not I like my 22 degrees so I can walk around the house in polo shirt and shorts as opposed to the snowman look!
I bloody hate the cold.
Cheers,
Neil.
