Sad new indeed.
Still watch the Professionals now and again on Sky.
R.I.P.
Just heard on the radio news the sad passing of Lewis Collins. Died of cancer at the age of 67 in L.A.
Most famous for playing Bodie in the cult TV series of the 80's ' The Proffesionals ' and Capt. Peter Skellen in 'Who Dares Wins '.
Sad new indeed.
Still watch the Professionals now and again on Sky.
R.I.P.
Oh man, that is a shock, way too young.
RIP Bodie/Skellen
Just heard about his passing on the wireless myself, quite a shock as didn't know he was ill. RIP.
F.T.F.A.
Great shame, loved The Proffesionals, still try to watch the repeats if the wife's not around....in fact I remember joining the fan club as a kid and got a CI5 ID card and various other bits and bobs....
Cheers..
Jase
Sad news RIP Lewis.... you entertained us well, loved the Professionals.

Bye bye Bodie.
Mustn't forget 'The Cuckoo Waltz'.
Oh bugger!
Who Dares Wins is an all time favourite of mine - right from the moment the awesome theme score starts and don't forget that fabulous shot of them all running down a corridor toward the camera.
He should have been more famous than he was.
So clever my foot fell off.
That's a shame - he wasn't that old
I think that he would have made a good Bond
Just heard the news, he was my second cousin (not spoken with that side of the family for years and years though).
RIP

De Tomaso Pantera, reg GAV1N!
RIP, a crying shame and far too young!
RIP Lew Collins
Knew him reasonably well, and did a few skydives with him in the early 90s.
He used to come up to the drop zone with his family, they kept to themselves and he jumped on his own most of the time.
He was a very quiet, friendly, unassuming man with a great sense of humour, who was happy to just be regarded as 'one of the boys'. However, he did let his hair down at the dz parties!
Very sad to hear of his death.
Very sad news; way too young.
R.I.P Lewis
Very sad news indeed.
I always thought he would have made a good James Bond. Instead we got the poofy Roger Moore.
RIP Lewis. Loved growing up with "The Professionals" and "Who Dares Wins."
I think Lewis would have been a brilliant Bond. Can only think of what might have been.
Sad news.
The Professionals was a part of the backdrop to my youth. Like Jim, [and Mattlad] I always thought he would have made a great Bond.
RIP 3.7

That's very sad, 67 is no age. Never saw Who Dares Wins but loved the Professionals. Vaguely remember the Cuckoo Walta, did he not drive a Lotus.
R.I.P. What a guy. Loved Who Dares Wins.
Just oust to echo others here......yep. He would have been an excellent Bond
No WAY! AS has been said before, The Professionals and Who Dares Wins are some of my favourites, not fogetting he was also Doug Digby's Father in the Grimleys! Just for you Codename: Flying Banana!

Just seen this on MSN.
Been watching the recent reruns on TV with my youngest, Isaac, nearly 2. Not sure who enjoyed it more.
Very sad news indeed.
RIP

R.I.P.
Still catch the odd episode of The Professionals on sky and it is still surprisingly watchable and has aged better than many contemporary shows.
Very sad news.
When I was about 11 years old (circa 1979) I spotted him having lunch in the beer garden at the Battle Axes in Elstree (probably on a break from filming) and asked for an autograph which he was happy to give.
What a shame, I watch the professionals a lot when back in the uk, really good series.
Another one here who appreciated his work, sadly apparently he couldn't shake off the bodie stereotype and find more work in film.
Watching tha clip again I now wish I hadn't sold my PD chronograph.
Interestingly in an interview when asked about the Bond role this was his comment.
Looks like the Broccolis belatedly decided he was right."I think it is time for a change, although no one has approached me. What I would be interested in is a new character, starting from scratch - an Eighties version of Bond, getting away from the gadgets a bit. When Connery started you really believed he could kill someone with his bare hands. He was an animal, but a smooth one. Since then, Bond has been watered down.........
Nice bloke, local lad here, not self absorbed, down to earth had a beer or two with him in the smoke in the late 70's early 80's.
RIP and condolences to the family.

Loved the Professionals as a kid growing up. He will be sadly missed, RIP Lewis
R.I.P Bodie
Im of the age where friends, family and those stars you grew up with are starting to pass away - something you never get used too, always sad.
Once again R.I.P
RIP indeed, would have been a brilliant Bond.
RIP Bodie.
Good lord.
That's a shocker... Will be missed, of course not that I know him personally.
But as echoed by others, for Hal the classic partnership of Bodie & Doyle, and WDW...
RIP
Such a shame, I bought a Lewis Leather jacket to emulate, back in the day
RIP
Very shocked to hear this!!!
R.I.P to a fixture of 70's/80's British television.
RIP.
Too young at 67.
Some great memories of the Profs with him, Shaw and Jackson. He would have made a great Bond too.
S
choked when i heard this the professionals was a fantastic cult series watched every episode numerous times
"He should have been more famous than he was" +1
was a para black belt in ju jitsu rejected from the ta branch of the sas for being too well known
one of the few people i would loved to have met
R.I.P Lewis
Was 10 when the Professionals started, loved it so much. Very sad news indeed. According to the BBC he was actually in 21 SAS?! Can anyone say more about this, had no idea!
RIP Lewis. One reason my first car was a 3.0 Capri....
I never post in celebrity death threads, but this genuinely made me sad when I heard the news, big boyhood hero of mine, vividly remember begging my mum and dad to stay up late for The Professionals, still love it, RIP.

Heard it first on the forum at lunch time and announced it to some of my staff. One of my guys used to have a beer or two with him when he lived in the UK. A nice guy who was very generous by all accounts. RIP
Sad.
He was one of favourite action characters, and unfortunately he really didn't hit it big in showbiz.
I enjoyed The Professionals and Who Dares Wins (still watch this on youtube).
Apparently he passed the SAS selection, and astounded the instructors on weaponry and his shooting skills..... big respect!
Rod
Very sad: as others have said, "I didn't even know he was ill". We still regularly watch the repeats of The Professionals and it was only the other day I asked my wife "I wonder what Bodie's doing these days?".
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Very sad. No age.
My Mum (big professionals fan) will be upset.
Cheers,
Neil.
Cant get that theme tune out of my head now, RIP
Without Bodie, there can be no Doyle...
RIP
