Greetings:
I've very much developed an affinity for teas, especially the stronger varieties such as Twinings Irish breakfast tea.
Please advise what suggestion you might have for a strong tea and where I might obtain it.
Thank you for the kindness of your advice.

Assam is my tea of choice, preferably made from the leaf.Originally Posted by cricketer

I never much cared for tea when drunk hot. It is much better iced. Even then, it is not as good as iced coffee. The advantage to iced tea is that you can brew it in the fridge.
However, when I do get tea, I usually just pop over the road to Whittards. They have a pretty decent selection. And you can get sample sizes of things. Even if you don't have a Whittards around, look for a tea merchant, if you are getting interested in tea.
Best wishes,
Bob
Theres only one -Taylors Yorkshire Tea, as used by Bettys Tea Rooms in Harrogate. :D
Best brew out

If you're looking for a 'strong' tea then try Russian Caravan Tea. NOT for the faintharted.

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
If you do not have a local Indian or Pakistani food market and the supermarkets near you do not hasve an international section, then mail order is your answer. The Shop-Rite supermarket down the stree from me carries Barry's Irish tea b/c there is a large Irish population in the area.
If you can find an Indian market try Red LAbel, Taj Mahal, Wagh Bakri, Lipton Yellow Label (not the same as American Litpon brand). They are all strong Assam teas - very dark and strong.
You can get some of the stuff that the other guys mentioned via mail order. There is a mail order place called "distant Brits" that carries the Yorkshire Tea. It's where I bought a few jars of Marmite.
Marks & Spencer do an "Extra Strong" teabag. It's actually Ringtons tea, so I'm told. Like Rod, I'm a Yorkshire Tea man myself. No beating it.Originally Posted by Pararescue
PS, Mike, have you got Alzheimers?
My wife's aunt in NI gets a tea called St Michael's in Marks & Spencer. It's pretty strong and very nice. BTW over there some people call that store chain 'Marks & Sparks'... :DOriginally Posted by Seamaster73
I was wondering that myself. Felt like a bit of Deja vu.Originally Posted by Seamaster73
I like any tea, as long as its Darjeeling, and not in a tea bag.
Meßmer, from the local supermarket, is fine by me :)
Thanks for all of the excellent suggestions. :D
I went to Sainsbury's today, to buy some some Twinings Assam, loose leaf of course. Imagine my disgust when I found they had only teabags.
Assam does for me and I find Twinings to be the best that I can find easily.

Very strong Paul. This is the Laphroaig of the tea world. A blend of Lapsang Souchong and Assam Black Tea. The Lapsang Souchong leaves being dried in bamboo baskets over pine fires. It has a smoky aroma with a hint of malt. It's a perfect after dinner drink, (unless you've got a bottle of Laphroaig or Lagavulin lying around  :) ).Originally Posted by Mrcrowley
