    Bezel Mod SKX007

Recently acquired an SKX007. Love it despite it being much bigger than anything else I've got.

It came with a Murphy bezel which I much prefer to the standard fluted one.

There was a slight mark at the 12 position on the insert, so I decided to try a different style. After a lot of searching I went for this.

I think it works quite well. I bought it loose from eBay so not sure if it's Seiko or not. The lume pip doesn't glow which makes me doubt it.

With the old insert I removed, I decided to experiment with it.

I bleached it and to my surprise it turned from black to blue.

Just need to find a blue Seiko or maybe a modded Vostok to fit it to. Anyone got any suggestions?

Here it is next to the Seiko

How about a SKX171? Not exactly a blue seiko and save for the SS accents, near identical to your SKX007.
Managed to dig this out from my archives. With the faded blue bezel added, it will look very different from your current SKX007.

    Bezel Mod SKX007

Thanks. Will have a look. Seiko's model range bewilders me. All seemingly identical!

With whatever one I get. I think I'll try baking the dial to go with the faded insert.

    Cheers.

Wow, did you know the bezel would go from black to blue? Or was that just luck?

That insert does look interesting, did you pour bleach on it or leave it to soak? You can find a bezel that will fit on any Vostok Amfibia case and would take that insert if you just search 'Amphibia Bezel' on Google.

I didn't expect it to go blue. I thought it would go a grey colour.

I poured bleach into a small jar and left it to soak. Only a few minutes though and you need to keep an eye on it. Once bleached I rinsed in plenty clean water and left to dry.

I do have an Amphibia with a Seiko bezel mod but it's black as well. Might try for a blue one.

I might try it. Does the lume dot still work? Meranom sell blue Amphibians but the shipping can take a while from Russia.

    Yeah, still glows.

If it helps I used Harpic thick bleach. You might get different results with other bleaches!

    That bezel is excellent!

How about a blue scuba dude in 420 or 710?

I got my amphibia from Chistopolcity, took 15 days but if you're patient it was very cheap, my 710 black scuba dude only set me back £42.29
