I think he owes you a visit to the laser-welding specialist. With all four corners marked, use an incorrect tool seems to be the most likely cause — not that any cause is acceptable.

If it helps any, that's an absolutely lovely OQ.

This is the only acceptable outcome. Luckily it can be fixed to look perfect by a talented repare person.
