Happy 30th Anniversary, she said ...

    ... and gave me this!

My first Hamilton (and my first 2834-2), and it's lovely. It's one of those watches (and you'll all know this feeling) where it seems impossible to capture the beauty in photos. As it catches the light in different ways the reflections from the gold hands and hour markers are quite beautiful, but I failed miserably in my attempt to photograph that, I'm afraid. You'll just have to take my word for it! The finish seems very good, and reminds me of my Ball Trainmaster Legend in some ways. That's another watch where I was surprised by the high quality finish and detail (even under a loupe) but have never yet seen a photo which comes even close to doing it justice.

Even the case finish (a combination of brushed and polished, with a polished bevel edge to the brushed lugs) is quite captivating when the light catches it.

Gorgeous... congratulations! I love Hamilton watches... some of the best value for money pieces out there and I mean that in a totally positive way... they're the same quality as watches several times their price.

And this Hamilton is lovely, a day/date with an elegant dial and a very nice piece altogether.

Thanks all for the very kind comments and good wishes!

Oh and Markw, as the 30th is the pearl anniversary she chose a pearl bracelet and ear-rings from me. Very difficult to find surprise presents after 30 years! :-)

    That's a lovely dress watch.

It ticks a lot of boxes.

Display back for one, I do have an affection for those.

Design wise, I like the way it has an old fashioned charm but a lovely modern font set.

The Hamilton writing looks great, as do the lower case letters on the 'automatic' wording.

Dressy... but with CLEAN modern lettering.

She's a keeper.... and so is the wife as well, I reckon!

    Happy Anniversary.
