This lovely one for me (pic by previous owner)
IMHO A, you've just won the coolest pic in the thread and given the quality of the timepieces on display(not mine) that's no mean feat
Sir, you are a member of very long standing of this esteemed community, someone who has clearly got taste and discernment when it comes to watches. And now... we're not so sure...
TBH or at least IMHO R they are a pretty funky watch. Very interesting horological history attached and big, easily big enough to be contemporarily fashionable and all that. The watch itself is pretty solidly built and weighty(thickly chromed solid brass), as long as you don't look too closely, so with a decent quality aftermarket bracelet they can look pretty good IMHO. It defo gets noticed that's for sure.
Price wise they're pretty cheap and I say that as someone(cheap barsteward) whose general budget for all my watch purchases is under 200 quid(Euro/Sterling/Dollars) and usually well under. They come up for under a 100 quid, often well under(I got mine for 40 in sterlings). The thing is they're "rare"* enough on the Bay. You might be hanging around for a month or three waiting for one to come up, but come up one will.
One caveat though R, they're much more delicate than a modern quartz in my experience, a bit flakey. The right sized battery is a must, Renata 386 IIRC makes all the diff, otherwise they don't work well on the wrist. Lose/gain time kinda thing. Though get a good one and they're pretty solid performers.
For various reasons I've quite the bit of time on my hands at the mo, so if you like I can keep an eye out and if I see a half decent example I'll PM you.
*rare is a very relative term. IMHO so many, if not the majority of so called rare watches are actually quite common in the world at large, it's just they don't end up on eBay that often for various reasons.
My latest invention... Prc200 on rubber - has been my holiday watch!
