After using ios 8.0.2 for several weeks, and being very frustrated, I see 8.1 is now available.
It has to be an improvement - doesn't it?!
cant be any worse than 8.0.2.
Well the list of improvements is very long.Downloading now so we shall see.
I usually wait till the last minute to upgrade but the last one had a few really annoying features/bugs so let's hope they have sorted them.
Sometimes a can't click links until I've scrolled on that page.??
Navigating from bookmarks doesn't then close the bookmarks pop up.
You can't clear history and cookies independently.
Grrrr.
back to normal camera roll as well thank goodness, hopefully sorts random signal and wifi issues reported with 8.0.2 on 5S
Download over 2gb on my mac pro or a 127mb over the air, I'l go for over the air please. Plus note bluetooth in my car is back to working.
No issues with 8.0.2 on any device here, but will see what 8.1 has to offer.

Early days... Will have to see, update was smooth enough.
ipad air seems a bit laggy still.... Although typing this, there seems to be a little less KB lag....
and swipe gestures worked in portrait mode, which was nice
updated my ipad mini 1 to 8.1 and noticed i can open more than 1 tab in safari now and go back to an open tab without it reloading
win!
Very strange.Update available on the I pad but not on the I phone
Sending text messages from my iPad via my iPhone is useful. It took a bit of working out how to pair up the devices though. For anyone who is wondering, go to Settings - Messages - Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone and add your iPad. It also works with Macs running Yosemite.
Let's s how this goes!
If somebody still have a 4s and is brave enough to cross the bridge I'd be interested to see if it can cope...

Well, now bluetooth at least works. FFS

My 5s took some serious time and effort to get 8.1 on there, but got there eventually.
Hope most others have an easier experience.
I use Bluetooth in the car everyday, so it will be a delight if it is working again.
My 5s was very glitchy after ios8 and the small updates also my ipad2 was super slow i have downloaded 8.1 and both seem improved thankfully but by comparison i downloaded Yosemite on the Mac and it runs like a dream no issues at all and i like the new look.
I did 3-4 phones / ipads at 1758hrs when it released ! (Sad I know) and all are fine

My 4s worked great before ios 8. Now its so so slow. I hope the update will make it quicker opening apps. I will be playing into Apple's hands by buying the 6 next year mind.
I think I'll be doing the opposite and putting a large amount of effort into Cyanagenmod. I think I've had enough.
Thanks for the heads up and I'll have a go at the 8.1 upgrade fairly soon. Does anybody know, if you do the upgrade via Itunes, whether you need to have the same amount of free space available on the device?
8.1 has sorted most my issues on iPhone 5s and iPad Air.
I tried to update my iPhone without using iTunes and it went all wrong.
Numerous restores finally sorted it (about 8 hours later!!)
I'm quickly going off my apple iPad. I'm having the same issues as you guys. Prefer my Samsung phone these days. Shame because I remember when I first got the iPad it were flawless in every respect.
I'll try 8.1 but I don't hold out much hope for it.
I actually did it since I had a back up I can come back to and it appears to be fine. I did it directly from the phone (rather than through itunes) and it was done in less than an hour.
Everything seems to work as it should. I am usually delaying any upgrade but having updated to Yosemite because of the superior integration with the iphone I really had to cross that bridge from iOS 7.02.
BTW, Yosemite is awesome.
Still no ability to sync directly with MS Outlook 2013 without using iCloud and that isn't going to happen for me. Either I find a good third party solution (they are a available but I haven't yet tested any) or it's the end of my iPhone and iPad and over to Android or Windows devices.

I'm sure you know you can sync direct with Outlook on your computer if you install the iCloud Control Panel which uses your Apple ID to sync with your device. This has been updated to support the new features of iCloud including iCloud Drive and Photos.
Since you say you don't want to use this, what does Outlook itself sync with? Are you using Exchange on the backend? If not, who is your email provider? I sync with my work Exhange account on my iOS devices. I also sync Outlook.com, GMail and iCloud accounts on the devices with no issue.
For me there are two main issues with using the iCloud route:
1. My personal information is uploaded to Apple's servers and we've recently seen how secure they are.
2. Syncing the calendar via this route creates an additional Calendar in Outlook, and an additional set of Contacts.
i sync with my home computer and as I use IMAP e-mail accounts, syncing e-mail is straightforward. Syncing with Outlook 2013 used to work as it used to with previous versions of Outlook.
