Fortunately the decision is out of my hands as I haven't been a good enough boy to even contemplate half of what they have.

Those omega display stands that were on SC look like a bargain now.

I had quite a conversation with the lady from Bonhams at Salon qp.

They are making a huge play of Furrer's Speedmaster, for some reason.

I suggested it might be a mistake.

Furrer featured massively on Sinn's promotional material as wearing the first automatic chronograph in space, a Sinn 142.
Sinn completely omitted to mention that he actually wore a 140 (that they no longer sold) and that the first auto chronograph was in fact a Seiko, so an all round success in marketing terms, as he didn't wear the watch they were selling, and it wasn't anything new.

I (and several others) spent many hours searching all the relevant Space photo archives for photos of Furrer in orbit, confirming the 140/142 issue, so I can say with no doubt whatsoever that he didn't wear a Speedy in space.

I have no doubt this is a NASA watch (rare enough) and was his, but I really doubt it is flown (and they are careful not to claim that).

But I suppose Bonhams need a hook to hang their maketing on.

great selection of pieces although i go with caution having bought something last year from them that was nowhere near as good as the condition stated and ended up getting a refund.

might be after a couple in there though!

    Red face

Blimey, 25% buyers premium to be added then VAT on top of that premuim.... glad I spotted that before recklessly bidding!

As you can tell, not particulary up to speed with the way it works at auctions.
