I see that AZFinetime also sells Credor, which has got be a first!
AZFT is a bit of a cornerstone for Grand Seiko, and it seems Joe has the ability to persuade the new CEO of Seiko USA to let them have some unique pieces.
At the Seiko roadshow event they hosted last November, he was given one of the Ltd Edn Signature Astrons, as acknowledgement for something – sales, hard work promoting the brand, probably.

I know they've been the only dealer to have the single piece of each precious metal variant of the Ltd Edn Grand Seikos that came into the US, and I was aware they'd been pestering Seiko Japan via Seiko USA, to let them have some Galante and Credor.

It's funny... when people post pics of a very Marmitey watch (e.g. a Romaine Jerome, a leopard print Daytona, something with more dials than a fly has eyes, etc.) and the watch is heavily criticised, I often feel neutral. The watch doesn't appeal to me and thus I do not feel overly interested.

But this watch does appeal to me (I can't say why... maybe I just like shiny things ) and I'd love to buy one both for my own wearing pleasure and in part to provoke expressions of horror from people.

Mind you, don't hold your breath waiting for me to get one. These things are a lot of money for a watch in this category and I suspect there are other watches higher on the WTB list for me at the moment. We'll see.

Go on, you know you want to – http://item.rakuten.co.jp/dskatou/9175/ – rose gold and titanium, just don't tell Tim (java) or he'll have a fit!
It's practically half price at £4500, plus the duty and VAT though.

I am looking for one. I love the spring drive movement. This is the only Seiko I have liked. I want it with a gator strap not a bracelet though.

    That's what I thought!

Something in the design really appealed to me, and then when an idea of pricing was mentioned I couldn't justify the design until I'd purchased all of the more attractive watches that exist first.

Fair play to them for thinking differently

http://item.rakuten.co.jp/jackroad/1879054/ – not sure if I see you as the snakeskin wearing type, but you never know
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/auc-fujihan78/10000103/ – might appease the inner goth of years gone by

http://item.rakuten.co.jp/chuukotokei/s392/ – very limited edition, so might be hard to get hold of.

Friend of mine found/bought the same watch, the object of this thread, for 2000EUR, in a local pawn shop. No idea how it got there, maybe some Russian guy running out of pocket change. I guess at that price I might have bought it too as an eccentric piece

I have no problem with the dial but the case design and those 4 columns..just wonder what inspired them in doing so and how could management agree to spend the money into production?

Styled on my old Mitchell Gyro deck which was a thing of beauty!

My god that's one UMF, i saw this after its first post, I've been having therapy ever since.
Thought i would take a look at all the comments, pretty shocked really not at the comments, but at the price....
Thought it was a cheapish Seiko! edit: i have just had a look on the laptop(normally view/post on my phone).Credit where credits due, it does look expensive, just not my thing.

I think they wanted something outrageous, blingy and expensive to appeal to a certain young, rather wealthy, rather brash, rather Asian, customer. I think they got it.

The fact that it (well, some of them) appeal to me too is odd but there we go.

Could someone please clarify for me:

Is this a modular watch, like the Japy?

Beautifully put together judging by the pictures, but did someone at Seiko forget to take it out of the case holder when it was finished?

If it said Hublot, AP or Breitling on the dial everyone would be saying it was horrendous.

    It is!

Hmm rather a peculiar case, as others have said it looks a bit girly/fashion watch. I'm all for something different but this looks ostentatious and fancy. I'd convert it to a 'modular' watch with a lump hammer though 😏

I have wanted a Spring drive for some time. I was determined not to buy one until Seiko came up with one which was not an attempted clone of something else. It is odd, I agree, but it is 100 % original, and that works for me :-)

Very few do, myself included, but it was designed for the affluent mid-20s type in Japan – and by all accounts, it's hit the spot.
I'd be very surprised if Seiko UK (or even the rest of Europe) will bother with the range, but in the USA, it's a different matter.

Why would they? They don't even bother with the Grand Seiko range.

Who doesn't what with the GS?
Are you meaning Seiko UK don't bother with the Grand Seikos, that they officially import and sell through a few dealers?
Now that I think about it, I suspect that the boutique in Paris, is likely to have an odd piece or two of the Galantes, but that's the only place that will have.

It's very individual and striking. It's not my cup off tea, but it's also not in my price range so that's an irrelevance. Wear it in good health.
