Yep, he's not too good at the moment so had to take it in for a service for him, couldn't resist an "arse" pic of both together 😉

This is Yamin Marina Blue, stunning colour, looks Matt in dull weather and metallic in bright light.

A bit like Estoril Blue but not as metallic if that makes sense? It's a head turner anyway 

    Thanks.

I do miss the RS5, trying to put the power down in the M4 in this weather is a nightmare, it wheel spins up shifting from 3rd to 4th!

Cant wait it for the weather to get better and have the running in service to release full power ;-)

Understand the red then for sure!

Thought I'd seen the car before - as I say it genuinely made me want a BE even more than I had previously! Lovely

Still probably one of the best cars I've ever owned - 2007 M5 - an absolute animal, but also comfortable and attractive! BEAST!

Some very nice motors on this thread, I know you're all going to be very jealous of my wheels.

A 12 year old Primera diesel estate.

For me a luxury, it has air con, a sun-roof and can fit two kids, pram and the kitchen sink whilst being cheap as chips to run.

I suppose that outlook is reflected in my watches, none of which cost more than £200. And like my watches my next car will cost a little bit more, perhaps by the time I retire I'll have a shiny Merc and a Rolex, perhaps not, I'll be content either way.

Very nice - is that destined to be put back into a Cosworth, or is it for a kit car build?

That Honda S2000 looks fantastic. What are they like to own, never been near one that I can recall? Do remember reading a road test that described the revvy engine.

    Thankyou :)

We've had it for about 18 months now - my other half uses it daily (although it's tucked up in the garage for winter) so I only get to use it occasionally - but we're both really pleased with it.

When we bought it I had just sold my mk1 Eunos and my other half's 330ci - Jane fancied a convertible this time around so we went looking at mk3 mx5, 986 Boxster and s2000's.

Coming from a mk1 eunos, I thought I'd hate the mk3 - but it was a lovely car, one that felt right as soon as you got in it - only let down by a slight lack of grunt and a rubbish sounding engine (2.0).

We then looked at a 2.5 and 3.2S Boxster - I loved both, classic looks, great sounding engine and great throttle reponse & drive - my other half didn't like them though - partly due to a bellend of a car dealer on one of the test drives!!

We considered a z4 3.0, but I felt it would be too similar to the 330ci she had had.

That left the s2000, Jane had wanted one of these for a while, but they had always seemed a little expensive. We looked at a local one and it made her mind up - she had to have one!! Great looks, well built and felt a little more special than say an mx5 - I personally preferred the handling of my old Eunos, the s2000 is a little more fidgety, but no doubt it has plenty of grip once you get used to it - unless it's wet!!

I have never had so much trouble buying a car though, and nearly gave up after viewing a few dogs or seeing over priced early cars - I thought maybe out budget wasn't enough. One problem we had was that Jane wanted one in Nurburgring blue but with a black interior - yet most have the blue interior. In the end she agreed to compromise and this one popped up on our door step - and after a few months, the blue interior is a refreshing change from the usual black!!

The engine note is pretty good for a four pot and it has a lovely mechanical feel to the gearbox - very precise. The engine pulls well once in the VTEC zone, but it's maybe a bit of a gimmick as once in third, the VTEC zone is well beyond NSL, but I suppose many performance cars have the same trait.

It has been typically reliable so far, just needing routine servicing, but every time I drive it I still find it fidgety compared to my 944 - so I must get it booked in for an alignment check as they are very sensitive to this.

Over the last few years I have chopped and changed cars, but I hope to keep the s2000 and 944 for a good few years yet.

I can beat that. I'm currently in this beauty.

    Citroen_Xsara_Picasso_front_20070928.jpg

Xsara Picasso 2.0HDi bought for the princely sum of £850 as a stop gap family car almost 2 years ago. I had low expectations of a French car that was that cheap but we've all become very attached to it as it just runs and runs, there's something very loveable about it (from the inside). I'm waiting on a Golf R arriving in the next few weeks and i don't know what i'll do with the Picasso. It would be like selling one of my children.

    I also have a Mk2 MX5 10th anniversary and a 205 GTi.

Fantastic post, thanks for taking the time. I reckon the s2000 is a future classic, a grown ups MX5. Lightweight and powerful RWD, nice gearshift, Honda quality and a convertible - whats not to like!

One for the future for us I think

    Cheers

Glad it was useful - I suspected I had started to ramble on!!

I too think they could be heading for classic status. Certainly since we bought ours 18 months ago there seem to be less for sale and at higher prices.

Been using it the last couple of days as I suspect a nackered engine mount on my 944 and my other half doesn't like using it in the winter - probably a good thing as I had a slight sideways moment off a roundabout last night without really pressing that hard!! They do feel light over the rear!!

I bought a 2010 VW Polo at the new year. My partner and I haven't had a car since we've been in England, almost a decade. We're enjoying the new found freedom. And if anyone knows any nice drives south west of London, I'd be appreciative.

Seconding this, I'm in Collier's Wood so I'm right around the corner and would love to know!

On topic, recently bought my watch ethos car - a Mercedes W201 190E. I love the fact that its robust, overbuilt and generally works in any condition. Will be a nice little project to slowly restore as I use it.

Get yourself out to the Surrey Hills, only ~30 miles SW of Central London. Start in a place like Shere, and explore the surrounds.

I'm running this now 330i and I love it. I've still got the VW T4 camper which is undergoing a few changes, just added a new full faux suede headliner and had the seats re trimmed. Heres some pics too.

    Surprisingly nowhere near.....

I ordered the full spec Auto..(knee problems are leading me away from a manual).... Ticked every option apart from chrome pack..

Came in at £36k and a bit......on the road...

The supercharger is another £5k ish, but that gives it well over 600bhp so should be enough to get to the shops and back....
