My Eyes...
Personally I'm not keen on Panerai's at all, however i'm quite liking this.
Just needs rawhide strap and a matching Colt Peacemaker
My Eyes...
Not my kind of thing but I admire the artistry involved in it.
It's nice - I don't do nice.
Gray
Love it however, Only 99 examples are being made, and each one is entirely decorated by the hand by expert Italian craftsmen. It pains me to think what else I could get at this price point

I rather like that!
Nope
...
I've always been slightly taken by the Magrette Tangaroa and other engraved versions.
Back in the day, it was not uncommon for Bulova / Elgin / etc cushion-cased models to have engraved sides. Odd to see Panerai leading the Art Deco revival...
Would require the matching cowboy tie, belt buckle and boots to wear that.
Didn't Kindler and Thorpe do this sort of thing first and get slated for it? Its not for me, not at any price and regardless of rarity. The price over the standard watch (448/449 a like) is also a joke, or i assume it is
Because they are a brand built on no nonsense, outsized, military watches.
Of course, we may be talking at cross purposes. I'm comparing a brand that has just announced a 52mm titanium reissue of a divers chrono (Mare Nostrum PAM603) with a 32mm Elgin cushion case with scroll-work.
OK, I see where you are coming from. It is fairly subtle though - and the brand has done some more complex things like the 236 or 518 or a 396 tourbillon gmt ceramic.
Engraved Panerais aren't new.
Google Panerai Sealand.
Sorry, my bad. Although, thinking about it, Pam do retain the bold geometric shapes and themes that go back to the thirties
This, to my eyes at least, is pretty art deco?

I am not saying that they would be the very first brand that springs to mind when discussing art deco to be fair!
I quite like it actually. Not so much the price though.
How much?
I love the minimalist design of Panerai dials but not keen on the engraved case. Each to their own I suppose.
Or, to put its price another way..........about the same as a similarly engraved pair of Purdey shotguns.

That's a lot of dough for an engraved case, which to me is a poor match for the simplicity of the rest of the watch
It looks like this year they have finally lost the plot.
I quite like it actually. Would need to see it in person to be sure as opposed to the arty photographs which I doubt is going to happen but if someone bought it for me I'd happily wear it :-)
Think I'll join the minority (which appears to stand at Josh and mr noble..) and agree that I like it...
Must look excellent in the flesh - Pricing is bonkers.
I think the Rad case lends itself well to the engraving job, which has been done in (relatively) good taste..
I`d normally recoil in horror at such ostentatious embellishment, but i think i kind of like it, which surprises me.
It`s better than diamonds, that`s for sure!
I think it looks great .It really stands out from the crowd.Yes its expensive but all big brands are nowadays. When I get that lottery win several Panerai's will be in my watch collection.
I like it and think it will age really well.
