    Leftfield - New Album Coming!!!

Right now is a good time for those of us of the musically electronic persuasion. Aphex Twin has recently released some new albums. The Prodigy's latest offering is a welcome return in my view. And now there is a new Leftfield album in June, along with a few tour dates (albeit my gig-buddy can't go so it looks like I'm going to miss out ).

It's almost as though all those who set the scene up are disgusted with what Will-I-am, David Guetta, Skrillex and crew have done with it.

Hopefully the album will be more Letfism than Rythym and Stealth. But ultimately it's more Leftfield. Here's the first track for you all to enjoy.

Didn't realise Prodigy had something new out. Not keen though...they never surpassed Fat of the Land IMO.

    They look so old now!

I think their first 2 albums were the best, albeit it was Fat of the Land that I first listened to.

They look old because they're getting old. Still, they put on an excellent live show. Even if they have become a parody of themselves.

Leftism is in my top 10 albums of all time, a classic. I'll get this one and have high hopes for it. Did anyone catch when it's coming out?

That's happy news. Have to look up the new Prodigy stuff too. Was good to finally see them last summer at Sziget.

It was a tiny bit before my time. I guess you relate to music that takes you back to a certain time and FOTL was my first-year uni album. Leftism was also a little bit before I got into dance music.

Fotl was middle 6th for me, but I got heavily into the music scene in uni. Caught up on a lot of stuff. Rhythm and stealth was out that year as well, or the year after. Leftism is a classic

It was well before my time. I won't tell you what my first album was, it's far too embarrassing to admit, however FOTL was my second. Aged 12, I cycled up to Woolworths after school the buy the CD and I've loved The Prodigy ever since. FOTL will always be significant to me, but his first 2 albums are just untouchable.

Will keep an eye our for the new leftfield.

OT: I'd recommend monolife and the new album - phrenology.

Fantastic, thanks! Unfortunately the London gigs are when I'm at Le Mans. I've seen Underworld a couple of times recently, I'm liking all of the dance music of my youf coming round again.

Nothing confirmed yet..... But it might happen...

Im very good friends with the dad of Joe Francis.....he's a local up and coming bike racer... He's in Keith's team (Team Traction Control) and I have a pass for the racing at Donington on Monday....
It's not certain, but Joe's dad thinks Keith may be there.... He's met him a number of times, in fact Keith has been to his house....he said you couldn't meet a nicer chap....absolutly bike mad, but totally grounded.

Album's released on 9th June. Been listening to that track on SoundCloud for the last week...

I'm not sure which direction it's going to go, to be honest. Their last album - Tourism (live from Sydney) was pretty good - and if that's anything to go by, the 12th June gig at The Forum should be excellent.

ETA - in other news, Orbital's Paul Hartnoll released the time / clock-related 8:58 last week.

I hope this is close to a Leftism part 2, one of the seminal albums in my life. Age 17, I spent a month as an exchange student in Tokyo listening to Leftism on the hour-long ride each day to and from Keio high school. Left a mark!

Love Leftfield. One of the best live experiences I've had when they played homelands in the 90s in the wilds of Ayrshire.

I'll second that recommendation a thousand times over! The latest album The Race For Space is one of the best concept albums of all time. It really is a must listen.

I've seen them live three times now.

I third that recommendation. Race for Space is excellent - you do need to be a bit of a space-head though. In parts it reminds me of War of the Worlds.

If you enjoyed it it's worth getting their first full album 'inform educate entertain' which although different is truly excellent. One of the many excellent tracks from the album

On it! Thanks for the advice.

May be good to start a thread called 'what are you listening to right now'  or 'music to make your system sing'

Friday night was pretty good. Actually, it was *very* good.

Opened with Bad Radio, then Universal Everything and a version of Little Fish (I think, although it could have been Bilocation). Switched back to the classics with 6/8 War, Chant of a Poor Man, Swords, Inspection Check One, Africa Shox and then ending on Alternative Light Source / Shaker Obsession. To say it was bass heavy would be an understatement. I think it liquefied my liver. Came back out to play Storms End and Phat Planet.

    Epic.

gutted i missed that date, can get comps to the Forum too; cock!

Underworlds live set for the BBC is worth looking up on Iplayer from last year, that was very good.

Chemical Brothers new tune with QTip on vocals is pretty good too. great to see the old boys doing it properly when compared to some of the European DJs for the masses efforts that sell by the bucketload.

on my football team's forum we had a thread running after Frankie Knuckles past away that is still going over a year later with all of our favourite EDM tracks ranging from Leftfield & Underworld through to the great man himself. turned out that not only did we all have an appalling taste in football teams to support, we were all clubbers and music fans of the 90's and still going strong now; with varying recollections of what actually happended during the main years!
