Triumph rocket 3 roadster 2300cc motorcycle.

One for my fellow bikers, does anyone have experience with the triumph rocket 3?
What to look for and what to pay?

I've had most types of bikes and at present have a special edition Harley fxdb street Bob 103ci
Triumph tiger 1050 with full luggage
Kawasaki zx9r for the fast days

Seems I have most bases covered but I can't get that 2300cc out of my inner child!

I would have to sell two of the above bikes to purchase one new:(

I'm interested in your thoughts and opinions.

    Jon

I test rode a Rocket 3 a few years ago. Seriously impressive performance and the weight just drops away once you are moving. Also considering the huge size they handle very well.

Having said that I didn't buy it because I just couldn't like the way it looked and to be honest I really didn't need anything that fast. However trying one out was an itch I had to scratch.

If the Thunderbird had been available then I would have considered that. Love the way they look and absolutely everyone I have spoken to who owns one of them has been impressed with both the perforrmance and handling.

I rode one a few years ago just out of curiosity. As above, quite impressive performance.

I did just about cook my gonads though in traffic - the heat coming out from just below the seat was horrendous.

Pal of mine bought a Rocket 3 in his 60's . Loved the power, claimed everytime he parked it up he gained a crowd. He dropped it three times, parking/ garage forecourt. In each case he said it took 3 people to get it upright. He sold it for an 1150 BMW as in his words it was easier to live with. My local Triump Dealer Philip Youles runs a supercharged Rocket 3 , its on their website and youtube I think. Ridiculour power and torque?

Not mine unfortunately, it was taken outside of Triumph shop a few years back in Paris near Arc de Triomphe which I thought was a nice touch. Stunning piece of machinery.

Keep us posted. Picking up my Tiger Explorer today :)

I've only had a 15 min demo ride and thought it was awful!

However I was (then) an RR8 Fireblade rider so it was slow cumbersome and franky a bit pointless. If I'd been riding a Harley or Jap Harley-a-like maybe Iwould have felt differently. Not worth the money in either situation IMO.

Loch Lomond? You must be a regular at the Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum then?

    How was it?

I was a BMW GS man for years until my motorcycle cop brother in law introduced me to the Pan European. I managed to wear two of them out. Always wondered what a big laid back muscle bike like the Triumph would be like?

I thought it was great, totally different to anything I have ever ridden. Gearbox is pointless as you only need 3 and top.
I tried thpe explorer, street and speed triple too.

The explorer was too similar to my 1050 but the street was amazing! As was the speed, not sure about the £3k difference between the two though?

So I'm now looking for a used rocket 3 roadster and a speed/street triple R
