    Vintage Rolex

    Hi guys,

I'm after a little advice if possible. My son-in-law has just found his Dad's Rolex and would like to keep it as a family heirloom. It looks to be about 1950's and the dial is marked "Oyster Perpetual" with gold coloured numbers and hands with a blued second hand. I know you are going to ask for pics but I only saw him last night and things were a bit of a rush. If I can get him to send me some pics, I'll post them here.

My question is, does it have to go back to the Rolex Service Centre, which seems to be in Bexleyheath, or is there any member who might be able to give it a clean and a service?

    Many thanks,

    Barry

Rolex tend not to touch early watches now and often send them back.
Find a good independent watchmaker, with a watch of this age having a parts account with Rolex makes little difference as Rolex don't have the parts themselves.
Just make sure they have worked on Rolex of this vintage as they are completely different to the modern ones.
