SBDC025 Mod
Really some cracking seikos in this thread just gone through the entire thread
must not spend money on old seikos... saving for something else.... it's tough though.
What a staggering range of watches Seiko make - it seems like one could fill a library with photos! SNE109 currently winging its way to me (I hope).
Lovely Seiko's and was thinking of getting one modded.
I've looked at previous threads about it but there is so much choice in dials,hands etc but would love something a bit different.
My SRP027, it's a tad large since my wristsize has grown smaller last year :-)
Something colourful that's just arrived!
I thought it worth posting a link to Cannop's blog to show you my Seiko 5126-6010 JDM which he has stripped down & serviced. I didn't even know it was a JDM until I sent it to him for servicing but it has a 1975 Japanese service mark inside the caseback!
I was originally attracted to it because of its unusual face and original bracelet, just thinking "it's an old 5"! But the history & movement in this is pretty interesting;

BTW Duncan was happy for me to link to his blog
Trying this on a nato. Still unsure.

The story with this one was that I picked up a new unused case off somebody here on SC. I had wanted to do a SKX009 mod along the lines of my stock looking but heavily modded 007...
...and starting with case only I had to gather the remaining parts for the build.
Somewhere along the way I decided to go not for a blue dial Pepsi look but with the all blue but with a vintage lume. I had also wanted to do some stock hands stripped back to base metal (brass) re-lumed to match. But these are still a work in progress! Also still on the drawing board is getting the case drilled and tumbled - although this may not happen now as I'm happy with the case work as is.
So the current spec for this is...
Case brushed finish applied - leaving polished bevel each side;
Bezel brushed finish applied;
Superdome sapphire crystal with AR coating;
Blue Superdome insert with lume pip removed;
SKX009 dial and hands baked;
Pip on insert re-lumed to match dial/hands;
Standard 7S26 movement, crown and stem;
Presidential bracelet.
I have plans to upgrade movement to a NE15(6R15) if I can source the required crown and stem - as per my 007 including the movement conversion to day/date from date only.
Obligatory wrist shot :-)

Thanks mrwozza. The baked lume looks fantastic but it's the combo of the superdome crystal and bezel insert that elevates this watch to another level.
That is, without doubt one of the very finest Seiko mods I've ever seen!
An upgrade to the hacking and handwinding movement would be all I'd do now if it were mine.
No problem... Whatever way you look at it they are a lovely pair!
I've just ordered a black 'Mariner' insert from Dagaz. I think I'll look out for a very cheap 009 and get the blue Mariner insert.
On a kevlar strap
These are my seiko's. Had a few more but only these are left.
please excuse the picture.... But you get the idea.....
My latest - busy, but kept under control (IMHO) by the high contrast of the black on white.

.... and a long term grail of mine. Probably one of the rarest - and ugliest Seiko 7A38's of all.
7A38-6070 SAA0073J.

Needed it to complete 'a pair' with its equally ugly sibling - the 7A38-6060 SAA071J.
Someone sent me this poor quality scan of a page from 1987 Seiko catalogue - 5 years ago.
All I need now, is to find a pair of the original Seiko perforated leather straps.
I'll keep looking, but I'm not holding my breath.

^^^^I don't think they're ugly, I think they're awesome!
