Seiko Tuna ARRIVED and I guess it's safe to call it rare...

...because I haven't seen one for sale for ages. Finally found one, pulled the trigger and now waiting impatiently for it to arrive. It's a Seiko 300m 7c46-7011 Scubapro from 1999 and limited to 300 pieces.

Seiko produced two limited edition divers for Scubapro in the past. In 1977 they took the Seiko 6306-7001 and made the now famous 6306-7001 Scubapro 450. It was produced in batches at least till 1979.

In 1999 Seiko took the 300m Tuna Can 7c46-7011 aka sbbn007 and made another limited edition for Scubapro. I guess I have ever seen two for sale during the last decade. Now I have one of them incoming and yes the wait really hurts! Should be with me next week...

Geez, how do you keep finding this stuff? I never even knew this model existed, but I do know that it'll be in good hands with you.

Thanks Jan. These JDM Seikos can best be found on Yahoo Japan Auctions. I wasn't even looking hard for this model but when it popped up I couldn't believe my eyes...

Tidy. Congrats - hope you can manage the wait! ;-)

    Congrats! That's a great grab.
From past dealings with Japanese collectors, it should be in pristine condition.
Pls put up some pictures of the Tuna when it arrives.

    That's a fantastic find.

I'm often scanning Yahoo Japan for rare gems, and sometimes they pop up.

In this case you are a Lucky man :)

It will be a fantastic addition to your awesome collection. I bought many times from yahoo.jp and never had a problem with customs. The only trick is to specify what's is inside (well, not "watch" or "camera" or something like that, of course), "watch parts for repair" usually does the trick.

Looking forward for the incoming pics.

That's great, I didn't even realize this model existed. I'd seen the 6306's before but not this.

Cool! The only thing I don't like is the mercedes hand, which is a strange "mod". Kind of surprises me that SEIKO switched out the signature tuna hands.

As a new Tuna owner (SBNN015) - I'm not at all envious of that historic Tuna. No. Not at all. ;0
What a fantastic find and many congratulations on it's arrival.

    Cheers

Good point. At least Seiko put more effort into it than just adding one line of text to the dial

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm really happy to finally own this rare bird.

Now if only I knew whether or not this 1000m golden Scubapro Tuna is legit...

This one has been sold on Yahoo Japan last year, but not to me unfortunately...

    Excellent watch.

There has never been a Scubapro Golden Tuna.
    Glad you avoided it. 😃

Fantastic condition, and the complete set no less! The first owner preserved it well, but now it's in the best hands.

I also think that the choice of h/m hands was not the most fortunate, they do look a bit skimpy to me.

Do you plan on wearing this Tuna or it is just for the collection?
