What is the average charge to install a fireplace?

    Hello Guys

I have a new Gas fireplace, sides and hearth in marble and wooden mantlepiece to install.

The work involves taking out the old fireplace, exchange the marble and fix the new mantlepiece.

Then install the new Gas fireplace, which needs to be done by a Corgi installer.

What should it be the cost of all this, considering that the existing flume should be OK?

    Thanks

    Franco, Sheffield

PS: and if by any chance you have a name to suggest in Sheffield, even better !

We had a stone fireplace (mantle, hearth and surround) installed by Hearth & Home (on London Rd) about 10 years ago. They supplied all the parts and I think it all came to around £1k. A couple of years ago we had it all knocked out (sold the stone fireplace) and a wood-burner installed - all done by Hearth & Home again (came to about £2.5k including the stove). The only problem we had with Hearth & Home was that they were very busy and we had to wait about four months until they could fit us in. I'd certainly inclued them in the people you get quotes from.

Yes, but in this case I supply all the parts.

I used Jon Bradley as my favourite gas fitter in Sheffield -

Never had him do a fireplace and he may not do so but he was always ace with our boiler and gas fire capping off and very fair on price.

Don't forget they will want a sweep too.
