    It is possible the heat changed the dial colour, looks black in places.

    individual pieces and moments caught in picture always bring a sense of realism to these unimaginable events for me. I am so glad his wife decided to hand it over to the museum, it must have been a very hard decision for her.

    Try searching for Rolex turn o graph or Rolex Thunderbird - you might find what you are looking for.

    Id say that the dials enamel has been seared away and the brass underneath is showing through.

    Theres also a battered Cartier Santos on display with a story behind it .(was there a few weeks ago , excellent museum)

    Though newspapers aren't that accurate about such things sometimes, the article does say it's "an unusual grooved 18k gold face"

    Incredible stories of bravery surrounding these events. Hopefully, one day I'll get to NYC, and I'll be visiting this museum without a doubt.

    I was at the memorial garden a month ago, very well done. I didn't fancy the queue for the museum though. Freedom tower is a very bland corporate piece of work.
