See, that's progress that is. Couldn't go around changing straps willy-nilly in't old days, you were stuck with what you were given!

I think I am devoting as much time and effort in my (nylon) strap collection as in my watches (of which there are not too many, admittedly--I have far more straps).

I spend probably more time nowadays working out which strap for which watch. A sign of slowing down? Never.

Any progress with the fitted-end 22mm rubber?Originally Posted by Ming Thein
I have had no luck with the 18mm Interim Baby Rhino (IBR) either, although I had thought that the combination of the stainless-steel NATO fittings (PVD'ed) with the Rhino-strap in a 1-piece-style would work out...

None whatsoever. I've given up and gone back to the bracelet, which is so good it makes me wonder what deluded me to trying it on a strap in the first place.
Oh, now I remember. I blame it on the AP offshore :P

Pretty good looking watch, not sure if it's quartz tho...
Paul
I've seen one of those, but I'm pretty sure it's quartz.

The limited edition bit is the bit I'm missing. I'm still sure that they do a quartz version, because all of those I've seen jump in one second increments...and, surely if there are only 200 pieces around, they can't be that common right?
Ming
It used to be not uncommon for watch manufacturers to offer both an automatic and a quartz version of the same watch. Take the Omega SeMP, e.g. Perhaps that's the case here too?Originally Posted by Ming Thein

Right. But you would have thought that London was central enough to carry it ... we just have to accept that we live in horological backwaters. Well, if anyone comes across one ...Originally Posted by Ming Thein

PS I am actually preparing an article about horology and the fact that it is probably one of the few pastimes of my life that is exclusively ?male?. On the one hand we can work towards a situation where women can be attracted - or just leave things as they are. If women knew about how much we go on about the textures and colours of straps ...
To me Hugo Boss is no different to Cartier, or Tag, or Corum even. A little less prestige (boom boom) perhaps but nevertheless, in the same market offering what they think people will buy and occasionally breaking new ground in case design.
By the way, a little snippet a picked up recently ... Cartier buys ETA movements and changes them ever-so-slightly, just enough, so you have to service with them. I bet next year they?ll have a fortress in Basel.

It just struck me as a thread a girlie would read and say something like "You men are worse with your watch accessorising than we are with shoes".
I hope I didn't offend anyone, at the time I was under the Chivas Regal influence.
That's okay Steve, like I said before, we understand. Girls have more accessories than we do, so I guess the occasional watch accessory is okay...

If you can afford Chivas Regal, you can afford another watch. :twisted:Originally Posted by tempus

Bum. But I know we need to get the debts down :(
Fortunately, the CAF is a banker, and is not subject to the bugetary restrictions since it's purchase has been on the cards for so long :D
....so Eddie....
You may have to inflate the CAF price on my receipt, and give me a couple of 'free' watches for being such a good customer
Cunning plan, Steve. Let's just hope that he remembers free watches for the rest of us too  :D

Thanx. To me if it ain't fun it ain't WISdom. Watches is one of the few subjects that contain art, technology, history, AND you can take them to bed. :shock:Originally Posted by tempus
