I was going easy on you ... I took this one more recently :P ... on Eddie's 24mm black Aviator (no more studs for me) and my own buckle. I decided that a black buckle doesn't suit this watch. Congratulations, if you've got one coming and look forward to having lots of straps for it.

I do hope they are still available ive been looking on the site and have gone through the Zeno list three times and can not find it :? I suppose Eddie will be able to get one from Basle. I hope

Still waiting for the CAF Homage :( . Got a Zeno Retro Carre to make the waiting bearable :) . And a vintage band from WACCEX . Like it a lot. Especially the band, not that excited about the bigger Zeno logo.

On a similar note there's this watch by Pedro Izquierdo, a Spanish watchmaker.

That one looks more Panerai inspired than Longines and at 1250 euro plus 90 euro for sapphire, it's not cheap. Not a bad looking watch though.

No, they're not flexible, they're part of the caseback piece and are given a contrasting finishing from the upper case (brushed/polished).

Check this thread. It's in spanish, but I think pics are self-explanatory ;)

Don't look as if they are. Our poor Zenos are pedestrian compared to that engineering.

Mine's been living on a one-piece Rhino for that extra pedestrian look. I like it how different straps change the presentation so much.

The look for the bexel nearly flush with the case is attractive, and smooth, however, it rather overlooks the utility of the raised bezel arragement, which enables the dial to be viewed more easily (it guards against 'overriding cuffs' and such like) and clearly (a more distinguished viewing point and'raised' profile).Together the serve a definite and useful purpose, whereas by contrast the other wathc is much more aesthetically inclined

One adjustment that could be made to the Zeno to marry the both aspects is to smooth the lugs. The polished lugs on the other watch look a little 'prissy, imho.

    Best wishes,

    AP.

This is just a first version of the dial, I can have on the dial whatever I want, I would just prefer to have some writing there rather than leave it black. Any ideas for a good dial text are welcome.

I don?t know if you might like something like this ...

How about Czech Republic instead of Air Force in the Longines font style?

I was thinking of registering "Homage" as a trademark. Perhaps "Hommage" would appeal to the ary-farty types. 'Ommarrj", not exactly Yorkshire is it? We would pronounce it "ommidge".

Very classy watch indeed. What kind of movement do you have in mind?
    An ETA 2895-2?
I am flirting this design but considering the price...

It will not work for me, being Czech. Furthermore, the Longines watch was issued in Czechoslovakia, so the Czech Rep. would not be historically correct.

Sorry I didn't realise you wanted to be correct but that you wanted a catchy name. Just had a look thru my files and the watch was part of what the company referred to as aviation Longines so might wish to call it Aviation.

    I assume you've seen this:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/a ... afnav1.jpg

I got Aviation from a translation, posted by someone ...

    "The Longines win!

All of the countries pay a lot of attention to aviation lately, so there is a need to equip the aviators with the perfect inventions of modern technology. ?Aviation shortens distances and depends on punctuality more than other means of transportation. That is why precission watches are so important in aviation. Our aviation supervisors have decided to introduce the LONGINES watches, best suited to technical and precission needs demanded by the expert testing. ?LONGINES aviation watches are distinguished above all by exequisitly formed stainless steel casing. It certainly is our pleasure and pride that it has been our own Poldi- Steel that proved to be the most reliable among the foreign competitors. Long time Longine's employees were working for many a month to produce this perfect little masterpiece. ?Aviation watches LONGINES Cal. 15.94, Ref. 3582, 15 jewels are distinguished by a precission movement wiyh a large antimagnetic balance wheel. The casing is the best of technical perfection, it is wheather-, dust-, and shockproof. A special attention has gone into the study of the accuracy, especially because despite their relativly small size they have to be absolutly accurate, if possible. Also, the crystal is unbreakable. ?LONGINES aviation watches are ideal timekeepers, especially on long distance flights. The sportsmen also favor the well proven aviation LONGINES watches not only for their tasteful shape, but mainly because these watches turned out to be the toughest, the most reliable even in the most demanding sports. To accomodate the two purposes, the aviation LONGINES watches are sold with either muff-like long strap for the fliers, or short (normal) strap of calf or pigskin for the sportsmen. ?Highly original stands, with a propeller as an emblem of aviation, are obligingly offered by The General Representative of LONGINES in CSR.

(in the box) LONGINES, leading brand of Swiss watches - 10 Grand Prizes."

    .
That was last night. Today I found a new translation ... I suppose if I found this one first I'd have suggested Aeronaut. :P

    TITLE: Longines Watches Win!

P1: In all countries, there is currently an increased awareness of aeronautics, with which comes a requirement to equip fliers with the latest in modern technology.

P2: Flight does not only reduce distance, but more than any other transportation method depends on precision. For this reason, accurate and sophisticated watches play a key role in aeronautics. The supervisors of our flying clubs have therefore decided to introduce Longines watches which, in all scientific publications and tests, have demonstrated their suitability for the task.

P3: Longines watches are housed in uniquely attractive cases crafted from stainless steel. It is our pride and joy that our domestic "Poli" steel which has proved to be more reliable than competing foreign products [was used for the case]. The highly experienced watchmakers working in the Longines factory spend many months making these pilots watches to produce such sophisticated and advanced workmanship.

P4: Pilots watches from Longines (cal. 15.94, ref 3582) with 15 jewels are equipped with a precise movement with significant antimagnetic shielding. The case is the pinnacle of modern technology as it is resilient to changes in pressure and is dust and knock proof. Particular attention has been paid to checking the accuracy of the watch, in particular to ensuring that in spite of its small dimensions absolute precision is achieved. The glass is similarly practically unbreakable.

P5: Longines watches distinguish themselves as timing instruments during long distance flights.

P6: Even sportsmen choose these proven Longines watches, not only for their handsome appearance but also because even during the most strenuous sporting activities these watches show themselves to be the most resilient and reliable available.

P7: Longines pilot watches, in order to meet all customers requirements, come not only with a long leather strap used by professional fliers but also with a short (normal) strap made from either box calf or pigskin designed purely for sportsmen.

P8: A very original stand featuring a propeller as a symbol of aeronautics will be provided by Longines CSR to retailers ...... page cut off

I was speaking with Roland Kemmner about this watch yesterday. He expressed his profound apologies for not going forward with it and promised to give it his undivided attention now that other projects are completed/approaching completion.
