Well, i guess you more than anyone have made money from Eddie's free SC, so I can see why you might be the one to start such a thread.

You must have saved £££ in eBay fees Jim!

for the fun of it, I think a nice retirement watch would be in order, engraved and all that on the back.

but it seems a bit odd, discussing a 'whip round' for someone, when we know he will be reading it, and also to be fair, the Guv'nor has stated he is going no where, all he is doing is handing the management of the forum to someone else.

To me it would seem pertinent to make a donation to the fund raiser.

Maybe a nice Glenfiddich Clan Drummond single malt may be appropriate? ;)

It was a nice idea sadly spoiled.
The last whip round I arranged went down well, and I know Eddie appreciated the thought.
A fair sum was raised and we bought some stuff for Eddie and donated to his fundraiser.

Because you have spent years circumventing the rules to avoid eBay fees, doing anything and everything to flout the 'spirit' of SC and getting a tactical strop-on every time you were pulled on it.

    That's why.

    Nice idea though.

Which is why the sentiment shouldn't be stopped...stick it back up Jimp

Whatever the decision is there's £20 from me to do with what you want....if it goes to the fundraiser then fine. Let's just cut the crap and get it sorted between us adults.

  18. #18
I'll stick 20 quid in too.

    Jimp.

Make the decision of what you want to do and let the masses know. I'm sure others will follow suit.

True...but let me tell you where I am with this.

This forum has given me a virtual haven over the past few years away from the 710. There's been some downsides. Firstly I no longer shave with a Mach 3, my shoe trainers were thrown away in favour of a pair of Loakes and going back to a ball point pen after using a fountain pen for the past year simply won't cut it. The forum hasn't ended and no one has died. I've met some great people along the way where ordinarily I probably wouldn't of.

I think the spat between users ie Jimp and several others in this instance should be put to one side, a little respect should be shown by not resorting to the same crap that the host has been subjected to over the past months and if a small donation to whatever cause is what's being suggested then I think it's a bloody good idea.

There'll be £20 from me too. Just let me know where and when.

    Cheers

I think a list needs adding to the top of the thread with members names and their contribution.

Then once a suitable amount has been raised decide what gift??

Same spiteful horrid little men with their attitudes; only three more to come and we have a full house; I won't mention any names but you can find one of them moaning in nearly every thread he posts in an the other has more hidden agendas than anyone else on here. and the last piece of excrement is the racist that has already been banned more times than any other member surely.

Jim you carry on; great gesture

I'll happily bung a twenty in as my parting gift before I clear off. Just let me know where to send it.

Whilst I think the fundraisers a great idea, and hope it continues, I think a gift for Eddie personally would be appropriate. Anyone know what he likes? I know he uses knives - I sent him a few Opinels once, but I'd be lost after that.

    Ralphy maybe?

Whatever everyone's chipping in, I'll also contribute the same.

£20 seems to be the going rate so stick me down for that too. Eddie (to my knowledge) never had a problem with jimp selling on SC so can we cut him some slack?

£20 note sat here waiting as soon as I know where to send it, and I'll be proud to contribute to this. The inches Eddies hairline must have receded playing nanny to this place!

Excellent gesture Jimp, I think the stick you're getting is because no-one else thought to suggest it.

If we raise enough we could get him one of those god-awful Dreadnought things.
Now, if only we knew someone who could commission a single special edition piece...

This has been done by a few of us in the past (via PM) and Eddie was presented with a few nice malts IIRC.

Ralphy might remember better than me?

It was whisky and a decanter and glasses last time as well as a bung to his fundraiser.
I'm more than happy to contribute again.

    +1
I think a conservative figure for myself would be I'm perhaps five of six grand poorer from my time on TZ but so much richer in other areas ;-)
As they say 'it's been emotional' :-)
Wouldn't miss it for the world :-)

Morning, i have further info, eddie is as we know a keen swordsman (ohh matron!) anyway, a little bird has suggested he likes stilletto style knives, i think something nice from hiennies would be good, so lets get looking!

  41. #41
An ex colleague of mine owns white tiger knives and does bespoke stuff....I will make enquiries
he makes everything himself..... here's an idea http://www.whitetigerknives.com/lb_p...sentinel_l.jpg

stop press, Steve at White Tiger has bought from Eddie on a few occasions and could have something ready in about 4 weeks from Order
If this is of interest, I will handle the order/money etc if thats what folks want.

ps no connection with WTK, he's a guy I used to work with in the oil industry years ago, one of the top rated coded welders in the business.

    Not any more!

Again, as others have said, I feel that my life has been enriched to some extent by my membership of this fine forum, and that is thanks to Eddie and his efforts, which have created a virtual home-from-home for a load of middle-aged blokes to have a bit of banter, chew over the events of the day, and learn all about shoes and essential tactical lifestyle accessories. And be incentivised to take better photographs.

    I'm in.
