Not sure what the obvious reasons for lying would be. "Yes sir we have received them but I'm afraid both have been pre-allocated and are unavailable for viewing" but anywho. Will be interesting to see what happens.

If they aren't available they aren't available, makes no difference if they say they have them in the safe pre-allocated or not.

A lovely looking watch and I like the "failure is not an option" logo. Interestingly, that was never said at the time. I saw an interview with Gene Kranz and he claimed that he never said it, Ed Harris said it when playing Gene's role in the film. Gene said that he wished he had said it and was so impressed with it that he used it as the title of his autobiography. So we have Ron "hey Cunningham" Howard to thank for that rather than NASA.

October arrives and still no call.

The 2015 Snoopy is on the front cover of the current QP magazine, lovely big glossy picture with plenty of detail and a very nice watch it is too.

Inside is a special on Chronographs.

Still waiting here as well. Apparently it's so there is a simultaneous launch worldwide but what date that will be is unknown, other than 'imminently'.

Just spoke to Omega Boutique in Old Bond Street where I ordered mine and they said of the 10 they have allocated they have received 3 which have already gone to clients at the top of the list. They have no further news on when the remaining will arrive and they anticipate it could be toward the end of the month. No coordinated effort to disseminate these then. The wait continues.

Just got the call on one of mine, not able to pick it up until next week due to existing commitments. No news on the other one I have guaranteed yet (Ernest Jones).

And so it's begun, £10k is a decent mark up:

These certainly "seem" more popular than the 45th Apollo 11 ones!

Is it just me that thinks it's ridiculous how little information Omega releases about delivery dates etc for these?

  15. #115
And the Globemasters! Don't forget about those as well! I can't get a straight answer from any AD!

I'm trying to think of any other product at this value that this kind of service would be accepted?

Popped into my local boutique today to see if there was any further news on next deliveries and thru reckon 3 weeks until the next delivery (no idea if fully fulfilled or another small batch). They said the delay is due to the manufacturing time it's taking to make the caseback which are each hand made.

    Hi

Passed on the first one at the AD as they definitely have 2 allocated (1 to me,1 to someone else) and the other buyer wanted it for her husband's 50th this week so I will get the 2nd so he can have it for his big day. Also have another confirmed at another AD but that is going to be end November.

Another update, my boutique called me earlier today and told me they think it'll now be February 2016 when all orders will be fulfilled. Luckily I'm next on their list, but not good for those that were late added to the list.

They're said it's due to the complexity in making the caseback by hand.

I'm selling both mine to a dealer for a hefty premium - didn't actually get on with it in the metal as the dial is too busy. Disappointed :( Buying the Sedna Black Dark Side Speedy instead

I haven't been up to speed with recent releases and only just noticed this.
Does anyone else think Omega are just milking an already classic watch? I'd take the original.

No still haven't picked mine up yet but had a lengthy play with one in an AD this week and decided that as a watch I wouldn't wear it. Dealer was offering £5.5k each and as they are £4,730 list and one I am paying list, the other less than £4k then now would be the time to cash in and use any profit to offset the cost of the Sedna.

    Ryan,

Can you go into more detail on what you are not sold on?

I have an allocation which I've been told is guaranteed but is quite a distance from me and I may even buy blind and have it shipped to my local Omega AD.

Sure, the dial is IMHO too busy and crowded - it looks smaller in the metal (the dial) then on photos making it seem that there is so much text and imagery squashed into a small surface area, and the thought bubble just north of the centre of the dial saying 'failure is not an option' is bugging me, it seems to unbalance the whole thing, compounded by the 'what could you do in 14 seconds' text on the top right side of the dial. The whole watch loses symmetry and it basically just bugs me. Case back is stunning however. The fact there is margin in moving it on means that for once in my life I would actually benefit from flipping a watch!

Don't hesitate to buy one if you get the chance though - worst case you would make a margin on resale if you couldn't bond with it.

Didn't notice the shortened indices at 12, 1 & 2 before. Love the white dial, bezel and Snoopy, the other changes are "meh"

Alas, if only Charlie Brown had anything to do with NASA and the space program... ;-)

I'm a huge Peanuts fan, and I'd buy a Charlie Brown Speedy in a heartbeat if it actually had relevance to Omega and space.

    Regards,
    Adam

One of the pre Apollo 11 command modules was called Charlie Brown, while the lunar module was called Snoopy

Then I guess I'd better star saving up again, huh? Now, if Omega would just be so kind as to ship the damn watch I already paid for......

PS - Thanks for the info and the link!

Omega part CWZ003436: link. Not sure that it's been released as yet. One or two could be found on the net.

Went in to Regents Street Omega Boutique today and asked if they had one.

A guy was coming to pick it up this afternoon so they gave me a quick look.

Far cooler in real life than I expected and also a far more serious watch than I'd anticipated.

    You COULD wear it daily.

I want one. I'm serious. If anyone has it and doesn't bond with it, come to me. I'll pay over retail within reason!

Even the watch snob has positively endorsed this watch in today's column:

"But lest you think the heart of The Snob is a cold, cheerless place, wherein the warmth of human sentimentality has no home, I will now share with you and with my readers a little secret: I have a soft spot for Charles Schulz [the cartoonist behind Peanuts]. The fellow had a rare combination of humour as a necessary antidote to the most deplorable aspects of the human condition, and the ability to deliver his cynicism without drawing blood, and Snoopy is more than a dog; he is the best of the intrepid human willingness to believe in the fundamental improvability of man, in canine form.

As you write so trenchantly, who can resist such a nice Snoopy? Get that one."
