Ohh!! :o :o
Hi guys
Third post of photos promised when i joined forum. Have posted photos of vintage Breitling Transocean and Superocean with many kind responses encouraging me to keep them coming. This time i thought i would cover some of my ENICAR collection and again add a little of the history of this brand for those who are not familiar with it.
A brief history of Manufacture d' Horologerie Enicar S.A.
The ENICAR WATCH COMPANY was founded around 1913 in La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland by the watchmaker Ariste Racine (Enicar being his surname name spelled backwards). The company did not stay long in the Jura uplands and by the mid twenties the firm had settled its headquarters in Lengnau close to Bienne. Here Racine specialized in producing sports watches under the brand names Longeau, Alprosa and eventually Enicar. In May 1956 Enicar became involved in the Swiss Himalayas expedition to climb Everest and supplied watches to all members of the team and baptizes this model with the name Sherpa.
A example of a Sherpa Guide watch introduced circa 1960. this watch as you can see has an additional GMT arm.
Enicar produced many of there own movements (making the a true manufacture in there own right) which were designed to be robust and very easily serviced as many were sold into the South African and Asian markets where there were little watchmaking skills.
Sherpa Guide Movement
Later they changed case shape to the more modern cushion version.
In 1965 they introduced the Jet Graph aimed at pilots and the Aquagraph at divers both fitted with the now famous Valjoux 72 movement which were also fitted to the early Rolex Datona's
ENICAR JET GRAPH
ENICAR AQUAGRAPH
They produced many varied models including Sherpa Graph, Sherpa Ops for military use and the SHERPA SUPER DIVE below.
Enicar produced mechanical watches into the seventies but after the introduction of the digital age like so many other companies finally closed there doors leaving us with a legacy of many fine and innovative watches
Thanks for looking
Willie
Ohh!! :o :o
You have some exceptional watches in your collection. That Aquagraph is really nice.
That's a very interesting collection, some wonderful pieces.
Thanks for sharing!
Jim
Great watches! One of my favourite brands. Must be all the colours. Still looking for one of these though:
(pic stolen of the web)
Thanks for that!
I've allways loved the brand, and still regret selling my Sherpa-Graph, that Valjoux72 is a gem of a movement.
Cheers,
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Some lovely watches you have there, especially liking the Sherpa Super Dive very 8)
Those are some mighty fine watches!
Cheers for posting the pics.
Steve
I like them. Very retro. They always make me think of the Jetsons.
Best wishes,
Bob
What a fab collection of watches that is. I especially like the Sherpa at the bottom.
The name Enicar has been bought and watches are being made under this brand name once again. Mostly quartz, with derivative designs edging towards fashion watches.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
I see what you mean. Great watches and ahead of their time.
Great collection and many thanks for sharing.
I'd like a Jetgraph sometime.
Best wishes,
AP.
Enicar watches are superb - you rarely see a bad lookign one - this one was recently sold on the web, a Super Divette
Nice pictures and history, thanks for that :thumbright:
I just bougth enicar sherpa gmt recently & still in good condition & very cheap somewhere around usd.100 watch only. I don't know much about this brand so far but I love the looks...
Great photos .............. still learning.
Amazing looking watches...
Hope you guys realise this is a six and a half year old thread!
This thread definitely needs some more photos. I've managed to fail to ever pick up an Enicar, anyone have anything to add?
"A man of little significance"
OK, to cheer this old thread up, here are some of mine.
The Jet I found on the Bay last year, and the Sherpa Date I bought from a retired watchmaker, in complete NOS condition.

I've always been a big fan of the Valjoux 72 movement, The first watch i ever bought had a Valjoux 72 movement which i still have, It still works great to this day !
Are you stalking me ? lol By details i meant what model number and how many but on occasion i will let slip with some basic information. That aside i don't think saying what kind of movement was in the first watch that i bought for myself is giving out details, I like talking about watches just not the watches in my safe. That's bizarre to you ?

No I'm not. "lol"
I find you bizarre. No-one asked you for model numbers, just asked what watches you had. "lol"
For what it's worth, I don't believe you own any watches. I believe you to be a strange sort of liar with an anti-Speedmaster fixation. You definitely remind me of someone...
I'm getting the idea that your not the friendly sort ?
Thanks. Yes I really like it as well. Bought it online long before I knew anything at all about watches, so quite lucky really. It's also one of my cheapest watches, so shows you don't need to spend a lot to get something nice. I have another Enicar which I'll post up later.
You posted that in response to DB9yeti. But let's get it right, please. You posted:
...in response to:
Which I posted because you boasted (kind of):
OK, so you "like talking about watches just not the watches in my safe." And then you post:
Yes, I do find that bizarre behaviour. And, no, I am not stalking you...it's just that you are scattering random and conflicting posts across the forum. And it's not just me that finds you somewhat...for want of a better term, peculiar.
Finally, my apologies to the OP.
I don't feel the need to explain myself to you or anyone else but i will say this, I'll share what i feel like sharing and what i don't want to share i won't, nothing peculiar about that.
If what i post doesn't interest you just move on to something else, look's like your the first to go on my ignore list because so far you have nothing to offer but criticism which i can do without.

I don't believe in putting people on ignore so I'll just wait for you to run out of steam instead, won't be long
