Thinking of camping this summer.
What would be your ideal camping watch? If I take one and a selection of straps, are they easy to change with a Tilley?
That diamond encrusted Daytona is pretty camp.
Other than that, I'd probably take an emergency. Lets face it, you only own one to satisfy some inner fantasy of being an intrepid explorer navigating through unknown territories. At least in woodland under a tent, it can seem slightly more realistic (even if you are only a quarter of a mile from the new out of town retail park).
I always wore my T-Touch Expert. It never let me down.
Compass, Azimuth, Altimeter, Weather and 100m WP. Tough as nails and titanium for comfort. Can't go wrong IMO.
And they can be had for silly money too.

Some form of G Shock.
Then when it does get lost, broken, falls down some pit you would rather not retrieve it from you will just get back home and order another one off amazon.

When I go camping I usually take my beater, Fortis B-42, as I don't mind it taking a knock or two, it's really accurate and has great lume for checking the time if I wake through the night.
I'd recommend any robust, non-bracelet beater. Find bracelets aren't the best mix with mud etc. Nato or rubber best. I've never had cause to change straps whilst away camping. It also depends on what activities you're planning to do, walking or by a lake etc. Will you require a bezel for any timing? The solar touch above looks a good shout. The Emergency would be the ultimate camping watch imo!
One off or likely to become something more regular? That might help decide if taking an existing watch or buying something new.

i never thought id would confess to this but i do i have a watch tha i use when camping. i wear it at other times too so im not weird or anything but either way, when i go camping; i wear this tissot solar expert:
Suunto Core. The barometer graph is much larger than the one on the GShock Rangeman meaning it's really easy to see what the weather has been doing overnight when you wake up. Only downside is battery life - I have to replace it once a year. Most are plastic with plastic bezel and mineral crystal, I have the old "extreme edition" which is plastic with a metal bezel and mineral crystal, but these days you can get a solid stainless one with sapphire crystal.
Camping is the ideal opportunity to be off the clock
So potentially no watch at all....
G10 would fit of you just need a simple watch though

Yeah...I'm not sure how wise that is, given that depending on how "hardcore" you're going, you'll want to know the time for sunset and it'll be useful to have a measure of elapsed time.

Yes, easy to change. Simply put your watches in a Tilley and choose the one you want.......

Pro Trek for me whenever I am out hiking or doing anything such as that in the great outdoors - PRW-2500T-7ER in my case but there are many models. ABC functions, solar, back light, world time etc, etc

Aerospace for me. Backlight for checking time in the night, alarm to wake me up, nice and light.
Mind you, any watch should survive a camping trip just fine.
The thought of wilfully being outdoors that long when I have a perfectly good house irks me. What's your budget? If high budget Tudor Heritage Ranger, if low Timex Weekender. If mid range - Suunto Core or some Gshock.
