Yep, a great actor who portrayed some fantastic characters. Sad news.
I watched The Dirty Dozen on one of the classic film channels the other night, he was great in that. Looking at his cv on IMDB I'd forgotten some of his great roles - Cool Hand Luke, Airport, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Death on the Nile...

He was great in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, tussling with Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.

A great innings at 91, but still very sad to hear of his passing - a staple of my childhood. Red Leary in Thunderbolt has to be one of the best psycho performances ever.
Pretty sure he's one of the chaps saying "I'm Spartacus" too, a very early role!
