My names Dave and Im a Lumeaholic

    Evening all,
I was pondering the shape and size of a watch case for an upcoming project.

    Handily I have some tools.

So I knocked up a quick CAD model of the blank before fitting for the movement etc.:

Then fired up the 3D printer:

    Think that'll work in metal.

Of course the printer was loaded with Glow in the Dark plastic, so here's the obligatory lume shot:

Great work Dave! If you’re going for fully drilled lugs, just check that they don’t break out of the chamfer awkwardly.

You think I should put a dial and movement on it?

I was just going to file under prototype, but it could be a watch I guess...

    I think it's a cool idea, but personally I wouldn't buy it! I can't stand plastic/resin watches.

Great lateral thinking and use of technology !!!

Hands/face in full lume plastic too, the possibilities are endless.....

    Add me to the fan-base.

Today was the first time I had a chance to take some photos of the finished watch.
I made a crown from a scrap of brass, and the case back is 316 stainless.

    The Lume is pretty good:

Freshly charged for a few seconds with an LED torch, F5.6, 6400 ISO, 1/2 second exposure.

The plastic fades out quite fast, although to night adjusted eyes the watch is easy to find...

There are many more build photos on my photobucket, but I also tend to tweet as I'm going along on projects - If your interested follow @SolutionsbyDave
