Here's one resting under a tree in Borneo...
Can anyone post a few images of this beauty in the wild please. And perhaps offer a review before I pull the trigger
Ta thanks so much
Here's one resting under a tree in Borneo...
That just might be the best post on here, MCH.. :D
Has anybody on here got one of these? Same as the OP I'd be interested to hear any owner's thoughts on the PRS38. Thanks!
Couldn't the OP just go target shooting?
I keep trying to buy one but miss the web shop being open ;p hopefully ill have time on tuesday
Really like these. Would add something different to the collection. Now, just need to sweet talk the Mrs in to buying me one for an upcoming birthday!
Keep checking to see if any photos have appeared within this thread(apart from MakeColdplayHistory's classic of course). A couple here keep missing opening hours(SockToy and Mouldie), did you guys get one yet and if so get those photos added. I've still only seen a single photo of a Smiths Blackshadow in the wild
A few on SC yesterday... It's a rare beast it seems!

I'll see about getting some pics next week - been wearing it today but the dome glass is very very reflective and im going to need to set up some diffuse lighting to really get the dial.
Overall the quality is as you'd expect for an eddie; feels well made, even next to my omega, jlc and vacherons - though as you'd expect the movement feels somewhat agricultural when setting date compared to the GO.
I really like the yellow seconds hand, and the combination of high polish bezel and pvd case is great with the padded strap (Speaking of which, I hope Eddie is going to stock and sell spares...)
The 40m isnt too big for my wrists, which are scrawwwwny, but it does wear a little larger than you'd expect.
Unexpected notes... the dial can seem a slate grey rather than black with the reflections - I was hoping for something that would be more of al ight sucker. the Lume doesnt seem to be worthy of the name yet, but its just been a day, and I'll give it a proper test under a light for a while then real darkness, rather than the wrist glances that I've given it today.
Only things I'd change?
The date window is cut very close to the numerals - at certain angles outside 'dead on' the '1' in 10, 11, etc can vanish. or the top of the letters and numerals vanish, and eddies acid etched caseback means the angle of the engraving is not straight - I did ask on the order form for one parallel with the lugs or crown, but I'd guess he simply didnt have any that were, which is a shame. Oh, and the instructions aren't well printed.
Other than that, smashing. The watch itself is very nice indeed - I'll let you know if it manages to displace the Sinn 656 on black leather that currently serves as the wearer when Im in that kind of mood.
Also, I apparently really like wearing a watch that I know is one of Eddies and says 'GREAT BRITAIN' at the top of the dial. Didnt think I'd care. Apparently I do. Possibly because Im thinking of relocating to the US shortly...
Thank you SockToy, some interesting impressions there and will really look forward to your photos.
Good luck with the relocation BTW, I've done the relocation overseas in the past and it takes some planning.

I did note on the invoice that I didn't find one with straight engraving. In what way aren't the instructions well printed?
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Just a little blurry with the print, like they're photocopied - shows mostly on the coloured lettering and photos. Not a big deal as its the watch that matters, and they're legible - just not crystal clear.
Didnt spot the invoice note though - thanks for looking Eddie.
Haha at the original picture!
ST, thats a great looking watch. May have to pick one of these up as it reminds me of the original Smiths dials in the Kit-Car :)
Looking good there SockToy, looks like it does smart surprisingly well too. It's a cracking watch, enjoy it.
Thanks for the pics.
All this time waiting for pics, and now two in the last couple of days. Nice one Dave, be sure to upload another pic if you do try the rubber strap.
Need to get access to the Sales Corner and then keep an eye out for one of these! They look awesome.
I think there has only ever been 1 sold through SC… so it would be rare sighting there indeed! TF shop is best bet and anyone can access that.
that's a nice watch
Ordered mine yesterday and will post some pics when it arrives :)
I like that alot.
I reckon it's superb, but out of my watch budget, sadly. I wonder what Eddie is planning for his next release.
Oh well. I can always press my nose to the window and gaze.
There is something nice wearing a UK watch.
Mine arrived this morning! Feels high quality and looks great I think. Also comes in a very useful double travel case.
I hadn't taken the protective plastic off in the 3rd pic, hence it not looking so great.
^ good stuff, the Timefactors travel case is really useful, so much better than a fancy box that ends in a cupboard somewhere only to be removed when you sell the watch on.
The Black Shadow does appear to wear quite large for its 40mm diameter. Probably be a bit much for my skinny wrist.
It doesn't look that big on. Bad photo I think.
Looks the nuts to me!
Like all pvd coated watches I'm always put off by how durable it will be
Apart from that the watch looks amazing
Hi,
I received my PRS 38 just over a week ago, very happy indeed.
I set the time by the Radio 4 pips last Friday lunchtime. ( Cue the Radio 4 quips lol )
By lunchtime today the watch had gained 20 seconds, so a gain of just under 3 seconds a day ....... I think I can live with that!
I think it's a great watch, I love the Day & Date that I can actually still see and the fact that I've not manually wound it up for a week whilst it still keeps great time is superb.
