So sad, what a brilliant writer, actress & comedian - made our family laugh alot growing up. RIP Victoria.
"beat me on the bottom with the "Womans Weekly"..lol
RIP - very sad indeed and quite a surprise.
My wife and I went to see her a few times - always very funny.
Thankfully managed to see her live a few years ago in Dublin, absolutely brilliant. Remember her on Wood and Walters on ITV late seventies when she was starting out and made such an impression.
Very sad news.
That's sad, she was always entertaining and clearly passionate about her Art.
RIP and thanks for the laughs.
Very sad indeed, someone who had huge talent and, without this dreadful disease, could have entertained us for a lot longer as she had huge imagination and acting talent. One that I will really miss......
This one has genuinely surprised me.
RIP.
brilliant performer who in a time when most needed to swear or politicise their comedy, she just turned out so many truly funny shows without doing either.
Dinner Ladies always made me laugh; 2 soups an absolute classic too.
RIP
A great loss to British comedy. So sad at such a young age.
Bloody hell that's a shock!
RIP
I'm genuinely staggered. A true talent gone.
Very sad, my brother has worked with her and said she was a wonderful lady.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Too young. RIP.
That's sad. She seemed a genuinely nice person.
Definately unexpected, and an awful loss. Loved that early stuff, sort of an introduction to 'modern' comedyvdtyle in the 80's
What a shocker. Very saddened by the news. Brilliantly observed and inventive comedy.
RIP Victoria
Acorn Antiques,genuinely funny.Very sad news.
Very sad, so young. RIP Vic
Very sad - enjoyed her comedy songs.
Unexpected, and upsetting! RiP
So sad to hear of our latest loss,
RIP Victoria Wood, talent never seems to last long enough.
Really sad news, I grew up watching her on TV. Same kevel of shock when I found as I did when Rik Mayall passed
I'm pleased (if that is the right description) that in cases like this that the first we hear of the person being ill is when the end comes. I detest uninvited press intrusion on someone who is suffering terribly just to sell a few papers.

She kept me in hospital when I was 12.
I was in getting my tonsils out and the nurses let me stay up to watch telly with them because I was the oldest on the children's ward.
The Barry and Freda song had me coughing up blood, literally!! Another day in for me until it stopped.
Sad loss
I was really upset to see this news; I recall seeing someone on Twitter around the time that Alan Rickman died, saying something to the effect that God's left an intern in charge of celebrity deaths. Well, I wish the blasted intern would stop it. Victoria Wood was far too young and far too talented to go just yet. :(
I used to love "As Seen on TV" back in the day. :(
Shocked to hear this. Such a talented lady, she will be sadly missed.

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Can't work out if it's that I'm getting to the age where more of the celebrities of my youth are dying or just that there are more celebrities these days...
my mum was devastated when she heard , she was a true talent and will be missed
