Which Precista for an everyday-wear watch?

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently searching for a diver I can wear daily to work (business casual environment), and occasionally also with a suit. I've been doing a lot of research on the Precista models and like the PRS-3 and PRS-82 a lot. For those that have either (or both), do you think it works for a watch worn to work? What straps would you recommend for this (I was thinking deluxe NATO or leather)? I don't need to impress anyone with my timepiece, but I don't want it to stand out as inappropriate / too "toolish" either.

    Thanks!

The 82 is a great casual watch but does work very well on a bracelet (well for me anyway)

Thanks for the feedback - I actually have discovered recently that I'm not really a bracelet guy, so I'll be wearing this on a NATO or leather.

Having had the 18, 68, 82 and 3 I'd go for the 82. I am a bracelet man but I'd still have the 82 over the rest because it's beautifully finished and just that little bit different.

    82. The new 3 is bland.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

I actually loved my 3 (I've had two) but the bezel action kills it for me as it's so loose, moving pretty freely round and also up and down meaning they were never aligned properly. I had to secure both of them with dental floss meaning they couldn't be turned but were aligned.

Shame as it's a cracking watch that apart.

Another vote for the PRS-82 here, especially if you plan to wear on a NATO, usually wear mine on a sand coloured NATO which matches the lume plots nicely. A quick change to a bond NATO completely changes the appearance of the watch.
Get one, you won't regret it!

Thanks for the replies. The biggest thing giving me pause on the 82 is whether it'll be dressy enough for work - obviously it's a diver, but there's a big difference in the way something like a Seiko SKX007 and a Halios Tropik present.

Basically, is the 82 versatile enough for what I'm looking for? Some pictures I've seen lead me to say yes, but haven't seen anybody really address it in a more formal setting.

82 is beautiful. It has alot of character and is very distinctive.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Even on nato/rubber I think it is extremely versatile, any excuse for some pics

I agree, it's a great-looking piece. Definitely leaning that way, hopefully the all-brushed case doesn't make it look too toolish.

The 82 is great on a nice leather strap

Having said that I love the PRS 3 LE in blue on the bracelet very comfortable and quite dressy for a diver, I would agree that the bezel action is a bit loose however it can be tightened quite easily but at 60 clicks it's never going to rival a nice 120 click bezel

I'd have to disagree as I've had 60 clickers that are as tight as any 120 clicker I've had, in fact my current Citizen Promaster has the best bezel action I've ever had from a 60 click; perfectly aligned, sturdy to turn and absolutely no play.

I always big-up Eddie's watches where they deserve it but I also have to be honest and say that the PRS-3 bezel is the worst action I've ever owned and totally spoils an otherwise excellent watch.

Point taken i don't have many 60 clickers to compare with and i must be lucky with my PRS3 its pretty tight and not rattly maybe it had an easy life before i acquired it!

Thanks for the suggestion - that is a nice watch, but a mismatched date window is one of my pet peeves, so no can do.

i think the prs17 is suitable for wearing to work, its very slim , one of the few divers that can easily fit under a shirt cuff. personally i also think the old orange and black glycine sub with the grey hands is a great looking watch.

The PRS-17 looks good, but not sure how I'd get one :)

The Glycines always look great to me in pictures but I checked one out at an AD and it didn't do much for me in person.

That does look great - if I go with the PRS-82, I'll probably be picking one of these up as a weekend strap. Thanks!

I vouch for total comfort of wearing the PRS-3.
It has very subtly profiled lines which means it sits nicely on the wrist and does not appear blingy or flashy, just quality.

Do you have any of the bezel issues the other commenters have mentioned?

It's certainly looser than some of the bezels on my other watches, inc PRS-21, but not so much that it rattles or moves easily as has been previously described.

I love the prs3 BA, but I saw a chap on the tube wearing a CWC with a suit and it just didn't look right.

Well I've placed an order for the PRS-82 - thanks everyone! Really hoping this watch lives up to my expectations in terms of looks and fit.

Yes, sorry for not posting here sooner! I got it on Friday - it's a real beauty! The silicon strap was actually very comfortable, but too big for my wrist (I was on the last hole and it was still a bit loose). I put it on the blue NATO and it's been great. I ordered a couple straps from ToxicNATOs, hopefully will get those in a few days - I'll post pictures then.

    Thanks for everyone's help!
