    Citizen PMD-56 daylight robbery

Under £50 from a bricks and mortar central Tokyo dealer, with guarantee. I didn't even have to wear a mask!

Full Duratect titanium, 200m WR, perpetual calendar, made in Japan, easy-extending titanium bracelet, DLC bezel and sapphire glass.

    Synchs here too.

I almost felt sorry for them

    Almost :-)

Nice result, I just had a look at the price here, naively I thought I'd treat a pal to on as he like his Citizen's but not at that price

  6. #6
I bet it would look good in new shoes too! If I pulled the trigger any faster on this bad boy you'd have to put me under Citizens arrest. Unwary retailers better "watch out!"

    (Some tickets still available)

Just the one - it's used in case I wasn't clear. I was browsing a well known used bookstore in Tokyo. They had a selection of watches too, and this one was just titled "Citizen H100". The Duratect treatment means they wear their age well I think. This model has been in the catalogue for years and is still sold new which is a little unusual. I think it found a market. It does what it does very well.

It is listed as 38mm or 41mm with crown which seems about right. Weighs 100g on the full bracelet. Also has Citizen's "Perfex" hand-alignment thing, so the nice yellow seconds hand always hits the markers.

    Now that is a bargain!

I like these titanium, Duratect and DLC Citizens they make for great everyday watches. Comfortable, light and yet so durable. With radio reception you never have to adjust the thing ever.

The dial on this is very attractive as well, good looking thing.

For civilian (ie, the non-WIS afflicted) use I don't think it gets much better. I suspect though that smart watches will have the same effect on low and mid range timepieces as smart phones have had on low and mid-range cameras.

Meanwhile, a relaxing Sunday morning with a carefree watch and Mr Bean's mug filled with darjeeling. Simple pleasures.

It is still in the retail catalogue, available new. It's been in the range for almost 10 years. Tech has moved on so be aware that the radio synchs only in Japan on this model. There are workarounds for other locations, but it's not exactly hard to set the time once in a while.

The titanium is a little darker than my other Ti watches, presumably due to the Duratect process. Looks nice though and there aren't any scratches on this one (not even the clasp) which suggests they can be a decent used buy.

Obviously only a matter of time before this goes on the appropriate NATO

Nice watch, and well done pulling the trigger!
Enjoy it, particularly when it gets its NATO!

Very well done OP...I bought one of those off Higuchi San a few years ago..cost about £400 if I remember...great daily wearer..unfortunately I sold it (to buy another similar TI daily wearer, an Oceanus)..but missed it and wouldn't hesitate to have another...its a shame it doesn't radio sync in the UK but the time keeping was really good anyway...

I've had mine for a few years now. Bought it from Seiya. Pleased to say it syncs randomly overnight every couple of weeks, and I live in NZ! I just leave it by a west facing window. Cost a lot more than £50 though...

I've got the green version of this, I imported it a couple of years ago, the coating on the Ti is very hard wearing and doesn't seem to have many marks on it.

The issue surrounding the time sync in the UK is not one that I have worried about, consistently the time keeping is +8 or 9 seconds every 6 months. Equally setting it up is simple, if you follow the instructions - the perpetual calendar is a great feature and once set is set! Currently mine is sat on one of Eddie's two piece nato's (the older version) and is a great summer watch as it is so light.

What a bargain. Very nice everyday watch with a decent Nato on. I used to have Ti watch, but regret selling it.
