It's alway been David Bowie Heroes.
Well in my case burned or binned (not a religious man). Don't know why, at a fit(ish) forty six I should have a bit left on the planet but weirdly oftentimes when I hear a stirring piece of music I rank it on my 'play whilst I burn' list.
Malcolm McClaren used up the Sex Pistols 'My Way'
What is your current (and I sincerely hope you have many years to reconsider) thought for the tune to burn to?
To get the ball rolling, the current top of my list would be Regina Spektor and "Samson", but it may change tomorrow.
It's alway been David Bowie Heroes.
10cc "Ready to go Home" for me as I disappear on the conveyor belt, please.
I arranged my funeral a few years back, no songs, no service, no people, nada.
me in the cheapest box they can find and cremation, scatter my ashes in the gardens, my wife has been instructed to do this, and a meet up of all our friends soon after for some drinks and a laugh.
Going underground.
Not really answering the question, but at a friend's funeral (killed in his late teens in a road accident) they played
Snow Patrol : Chasing Cars. There wasn't a dry eye to be seen.
Never been able to listen to it since.

Seven Tears by the Goombay Dance Band
Save your love by Renee and Renata
Star Trekkin by The Firm
And of course Agadoo by Black Lace
One of the great Sixties obscurities, We Gotta Go by the Shy Guys, two and a half minutes of charming, cheerful farewell as the coffin is taken out down the aisle
And instead of a eulogy, Commando by the Ramones
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd for me... and I want the congregation to do the air guitar solos :-)

assuming i'll be dead at the time can't say that i give a toss
Ive a letter of intention stored with my will to cover my funeral arrangements.
This includes the music for when the coffin trundles behind the curtian ... Megadeth's "Into the Lungs of Hell".
Given its an instrumental the title will be lost on any attendees, but will give me one last smile from the casket.
Possibly:
Purple Rain by Prince
One Way of Life by The Levellers
Life in Mars by Bowie
Not necessarily in that order. I like the idea of using the Bowie song because it has absolutely nothing to do with much at all
Perfect day by Lou Reed or possibly 'When I'm dead and gone' by McGuinness Flint.
Stairway to Heaven or A Day in the Life.
Digging a hole by Bernard Cribbens would generate a smile.
Plus
Firestarter (prodigy) as I'm getting burnt
Sunny Afternoon (kinks), mainly for the line "The tax mans taken all my dough" For years I was SED working at sea then things changed for me.
These last 2 should bring a smile to the faces of those there, not that there'll be many as I general dislike most people and am anti-social, so it'll just be a close circle and any family that have out lived me.
For my Dad's funeral earlier this year he asked me to put together a CD of the sound of Fairey Gannets taking off and landing interspersed with the sound of someone practising Django Reinhardt melodies on the guitar... You wouldn't believe the effort involved. I got it done though.
The constant sound of the aircraft and his Dad playing guitar comforted him and sent him to sleep as a child - he wanted the same as he went for his final rest.
The chaps in his local (old fishing inn) sung the most beautiful rendition of 'Lily of the Valley' at his wake. I might have that at mine.
Prelude to Lohengrin please.
Unless I cop it in a swan-related accident in which case it would be a bit tasteless.
They will never find my body. I will live on in myth and legend. My name a dream of hope for the worthy and a nightmare of torment for the evil.

Pink Floyd, set the controls for the heart of the sun, the full length version.
That's really lovely.
Having arranged my own father's funeral earlier this month, I realise how much work is involved now even if you want to keep it simple and adding in excellent touches like that do chew up time like you wouldn't believe. Well done.
Most of the tunes that we originally thought of for dad didn't actually seem suitable in the end, so he went out to Morecambe and Wise singing Bring Me Sunshine.
Dad was absolutely determined that he didn't want flowers, so to add a little colour, we decided to place his motorcycle crash helmet atop the coffin. The funeral director was worried about it rolling off, and called me up and said "I hope it's OK but we're going to nail your dad's helmet to the coffin lid"
I don't think "I know he's dead but I reckon that'll still bring tears to his eyes" was the response they were expecting.
I've got a few planned , but want to round it all off with Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MG's. I hope that will raise a few smiles.
Probably this, and it is something I have thought about from time to time:
or, this:
We've had this one before:
http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...t-your-funeral
And it was started by Mrcrowley; as a matter of interest can anybody confirm whether he had is chosen piece played at his?
This would be mine:
William Croft; Burial Service. (Recording by Kings College, Cambridge)
Verdi; Requiem, Libera Me (Angela Georghiu with Abbado conducting in Berlin 2001). I watched this live when it was broadcast and I also have the recording and DVD together with about 8 other recordings of the Requiem.
Shostakovich: String Quartet No 15, first movement. (Emerson String Quartet)
Tchaikovsky: Nocturne Opus 19, No 4 (Aldeburgh Festival performance with Rostropovich) Quite a nice melancholic piece.

I suppose it would be jolly to have some kind of hymn so that everybody could join in; my experience of Remembrance Day services is that even the most unenthusiastic squaddie will get worked up for the chorus of Onward Christian Soldiers so that might be the one.
I have every intention of being chucked on a bonfire with the minimum of fuss. I'm not religious in any way so no hymns and such.
Crazy World of Arthur Brown 'Fire'
The Trammps 'Disco Inferno'
Bruce Springsteen 'Im On Fire'
Talking Heads 'Burning Down The House', and finish of with a nice uplifting ditty
The Prodigy 'Firestarter'
Then I'm going to leave instructions for my urn to have two bit googly eyes stuck to it and it placed on the mantle piece of each of the kids in rotation.
As I go into the crem - Alive And Kicking by Simple Minds.
As everyone leaves - One Step Beyond by Madness.
Oh and everyone has to do the Madness walk:
Still Alive by Jonathan Coulton a.k.a. the end credits song from Portal.
My way with Frank Sinatra and Pavarotti.
"There is a light that never goes out" by The Smiths.
As said earlier, "Going Underground" by The Jam.
Had a cd recorded for years, consisting of:
Half the World away by Oasis
Julie by the levellers.
Dynasty theme tune when entering the crematorium and six feet under theme tune when burning.
Living in a box
Disco inferno
Depending on the final journey type
Chameleons - Soul in Isolation
The lyric:
I'm alive in here
I'm alive
Turn on the light
should go down well
Nobody mentioned . . .
The Countdown Clock
. . . yet? Not very original, sorry!
Smoke gets in your eye?! Or since nothing really matters now, Bohemian Rhapsody.
Don't think lyrics are needed so..
'Chasing Sheep is best left to shepherds' by Michael Nyman VERY LOUD.

I went to a funeral a couple of years back and they played "always look on the bright side if life"
Always makes me smile when I think of it, summed him up perfectly
I was thinking of John Cage's composition 4' 33". It's nice and quiet and will appeal to all ages and tastes😂.People could sit and contemplate life and death.
Radiohead how to dissappear completely.

I've already made it clear to my wife and children that I would like the mourners to sit quietly and listen to the full rendition of 'I See a Darkness' by Bonnie Prince Billy.
I want them to leave the gig feeling as miserable as possible
Lukas graham, Funeral.
