Calling all cool parents, I'm in need of some present ideas, as it's my Nephew's 5th birthday.
I know he loves Superhero stuff, but just struggling for ideas, as he hasn't said what he'd like.
Any ideas appreciated.

My boy is 7 now but Lego is always popular. They do superhero sets too.
I always like to buy books as presents, and for a five year old how about something like a pop up dinosaur book or something about space. If you supplement the book with a trip to the Natural History Museum or the Planetarium you'll be a hero!
Star Wars Lego (if you or someone can build with him), Iron Man toys, remote control car, nerf guns best of all for my nephew was a little remote control car that using a fan would drive along the walls and ceiling (and the panoramic roof of the car on the way home).

A couple of other thoughts; a cricket set, a small indoor tent (one of the most played with presents my kids have received), some arts and crafts things (paints/pencils/crayons etc), some tickets to something that you could take him to (footy, a show whatever is his thing).
Can't fault the Lego option and as said they do a super Heros line too
I'd never heard of hexbugs until last week but my little lad has gone mental for them. A lot cheaper than Lego too
Well seeing as summer is officially here I think a reasonably decent "super soaker" style water gun.
My 5 year old daughter loves hers!
Spider-Man costume
Galactic Heroes have a lot of play value, they are really robust too.
Hero Mashers are good fun if he's into super heroes, Imaginext heroes are good fun.
Nerf are a good laugh, as are light-sabers.
Modern Lego is fun to build & the instructions are easy to follow, not sure about it's play value after that though?

Lego is a great shout! Like the look of the Hexbugs too, maybe a little advanced for his age though.
Hero Mashers are cool too, he's already got Imaginext gear, so would fit in.
Depending in your budget and how cool an uncle you want to be...

My son is 3 (Nearly 4) and someone got him hex bugs for his last birthday, he still leaves them strewn across the playroom floor so must still enjoy them all this time later. I only get to change the batteries...
I started taking my nephew out when he was 5 for his birthday and have done pretty much every year since (he's 15 this August). It used to be to a toy shop to choose his own present then graduated to clothes a couple of years back. I'm sure one day it will be strip clubs. I do the same for my other nephew as well each January (he's 8)
If you're able to do this, do it. I have some absolutely wonderful memories of these years with them, watching them grow up and have an amazing relationship with them.
They'll forget what toy you got them a week later but never the fun you have with them.

Perhaps combine it with some Lego or Marvel figures and he'll be made up.
Lego (as opposed to Duplo) can be a little tricky for a five year old - How about Playmobil? I'm always impressed by how well made Playmobil stuff is.
If you've not done it yet, Brio wooden railways are brilliant and gets the little one sorting out the logic of building layouts.
It is stupidly expensive new, though starter sets are often available in "outlet" toy shops. People often sell off their child's collection for a fraction of the new price when they grow out of it so expanding the set to something huge need not cost an arm and a leg

All pretty much covered above really. Hero mashers are great and often really reasonably priced. Nerf stuff is ace too - their cheapest range is moderately low powered so not dangerous to eyes and the like. Super soaker good too.

Went for a 5 pack of Hero Mashers, the Avengers set. And the Avengers book posted above. Both should go down a treat.
