For me it would have to be the below:
Don't laugh 😁
Tag Heuer Link Calibre 36
Vintage Submariner
Patek Nautilus 5712R
Breitling Cosmonaute Ref. 809
Late 1950s Sturmanskie 17j
Speedmaster Pre-Moon 105.012 or 145.012
For me it would have to be the below:
Don't laugh 😁
Tag Heuer Link Calibre 36
Vintage Submariner
Patek Nautilus 5712R
I think I now own my perfect 3 :
Rolex exp II White
Omega smp 2531
Seiko mm300
Plus many others

marchingontogether!
+1
I remember your white Calibre 36 as you offered it on the SC before trading it in, was tempted although I do have a black face model that I paid a lot for; nearly traded mine a year back but was offered less than 30% of what I paid!
It's a well built watch, nice looking distinctive albeit uncomfortable bracelet and well decorated high beat (Zenith) movement.
Rolex Day-Date 40; ALS model One; Grand Seiko Quartz Dive watch, SBGX 117. Got two of them, will probably never be able to afford the Lange Model One. Shame really.
But then maybe you really need two watches...a 'posh' one and a more sporty, tough, one.
Dress- Girard Perregaux 4770 Silver or charcoal dial in SS
Beater/Diver- Certina DS action auto blue dial or glycine combat sub blue dial orange bezel (either would make me smile)
Fun- Girard Perregaux 49570 black dial
Thinking about it, 3 seems to be the perfect number, enough for any given situation, no more than necessary.
But not realistic, because there are a couple of heirlooms that i will never part with, and my GP 4900 chrono isn't going anywhere, i've only seen one other black dialed one
Dress-ish = Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual Calendar white face in Pt or Blancpain Leman Chrono 2185-1127
Sport = Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph in SS & 39mm white face, or Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph white face in SS
Casual = Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711
Breitling Navitimer 01
Rolex Submariner Hulk
G-Shock GW-5000
1. Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 or 12 (Can't decide, probably 12)
2. PAM00000 Luminor Base Logo
3. AP ROO Diver (this is a little optimistic so could be replaced with a JLC MC Diving Chrono)
This would be to add to my collection. If I could keep only three including what I already have, it would be :
1. Monaco
2. BLNR
3. AP/JLC Diver
As I wrote elsewhere, my next watch is probably going to be a Zenith again, either an El Primero HW or perhaps even a 410 or a Rainbow Flyback (although I don't really want another automatic for some reason). I'd love a Zenith 135, but they're rapidly becoming unobtainable, so a 40T will have to do. There is also the Elite HW Chronometer I almost bought off this forum, I may try to find another. And I like the independents of the AHCI, would love a Voutilainen or a PSM, but I don't feel justified to invest that much even if I could. Rainer Nienaber remains a favourite and a friend, and I may get another one from him, looking forward to the Large Seconds he's currently working on. Not very adventurous, I know (it's all similar to what I already have), but after a quarter-century of watch collecting and flipping this is what still gets me excited.
Now if you had asked me this question twenty years ago, I would have replied:
1. Speedmaster Pro
2. Minerva Pythagore
3. Longines 30L
I've had all these (or closely related), and when I finally got them I was rather underwhelmed. I still have a couple of vintage Longines, and a Minerva cal. 49, but they are normally stuck in my drawer. The Speedies (a Moon and a Mk III) I also found I never wore in the end. So they went. What stayed is what makes me happy when I wear it. Like the Nienaber in my Avatar.
On top of my list today are:
Breitling Navitimer pre-806
IWC Aquatimer ref 812 and
JLC Memovox, ref e855, black dial

As a man of modest means, this would be my list - bearing in mind I'm working on used prices only.
Omega Seamaster Professional 2531.80
Tag Heuer Calibre 1 Carrera
Speedmaster Professional (I suppose, seems to be some sort of rite of passage owning one of these at some point).
Nautilus 5711 or Aquanaut
Rolex Sea Dweller 'great white'
Keep one of my current PO 2500's - I know it's a different league to the others but it just fits right, looks right with that old school tool watch look, is versatile in that it's great on bracelet, isofrane or NATO.......if it had the Rolex name it would one day be a sub like classic

Diver
Chrono
Pilot
I'm at 2 out of 3 at the moment

I already have my ideal three:
Omega Seamaster 120M (2003)
Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Quartz (2012)
Rolex Submariner 14060M (2004)
None of these are now current so if I needed to replace them it would be:
Omega Aqua Terra
Omega Speedy Pro
and I'm not sure what I would replace my divers with as I'm not keen on the supercase ceramic Submariner and I think the PO is too thick for my wrist.
Possibly a Longines Hydroconquest quartz as I do like a quartz for accuracy and robustness.
1. Rolex Seadweller 16600 (pre ceramic)
2. Omega Seamster Pro (brosnan-pre ceramic). (replacing the one I foolishly sold)
3. Now........ So torn .... Vintage Pepsi GMT or Heuer Monaco or Zenith El Primero Rainbow fly back.....
Aghhh... This is tough but as the Omega is blue (as is the Monaco but love the square case for say more dressy occasions).....but I'll leave it off here
....and the GMT though very pretty is similar enough to Seadweller and not a cyclops fan to be honest.......... so to deselect it under these rules so it has to be the Zenith then....
Phewww.......
I could be more fantastical and much more aspirational of but I genuinely think I could "survive" if only ever allowed just 3 watches and these are not complete pie in the sky....

Casual / Weekend: Omega SeMP 2254.50.00
Beater: Casio G-SHOCK GW-M5610-1ER
Rolex Cellini dual time.
Tudor Black Bay Bronze
Jaeger-leCoultre Grande Reverso.

This is a great site. Unfortunately it could make me homeless. I have never heard of a Railmaster let alone see one what a fine watch nothing outstanding just good all-round love it.
So I'll have another go at that.
Omega Rainwater.
Omega Great White.
Rado original.
No doubt it will change after a few more discoveries from the site.
Sinn 903 St
Breitling Aerospace Evo black dlc
GS SBGA003
Yip, be very happy with those three.
A thinner Omega PO - 12mm ish
An IWC aquatimer at the same size as the standard auto (42mm) but with the colour choice / dial of the aquatimer 2000 (46mm)
A cartier De Drive with a central seconds hand not a sub dial
In the absence of those i'll stick with
Cartier Santos 100 midsize
Omega PO 42mm black dial / bezel - 8500 movement
IWC aquatimer 3290 - black dial
They pretty much cover my bases.
my three are :
x33 2nd gen
da37 black
( I've already got the other one )
if i was to go up a bit in budget id be looking for a gmt master ii
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Realistically, I'd say I already have mine:
I've been tempted to sell a few others to get an AP 15202, but its service cost/appetite and easily-marred finish make that an impractical proposition now that I'm entering the fatherhood stage of life. Although higher-end watches are lovely, I've found that the actual ownership experience isn't entirely for me; I like my watches to be as stress-free as possible. :)
If it came down to it, I'd consider substituting my white-dialled 16520 for the newer Daytona to keep my favourite 4-, 5- and 6-digit references, but they're essentially the same watch.
Rolex SubC
Omega 2254
Omega 2594
Black divers it is then....
The dress (and sheer awesomeness):
Moser Perpetual
Chronograph
The new Daytona Panda / Ceramic
