Oldest pair are a brace of JLCs, this the older of the two at early 1940s according to Zaf;
a civilian MkVII a like:
and a slightly later (1940s, probably..) riff on similar family movement, E159:
cheers,

Nothing like as grand as some on here, but this is my oldest watch - a 1945 Tissot:
I've got much older pocket watches but my oldest wrist watches are all from the '40's.
Cheers,
Neil.
Thank you.
The strap is indeed for fixed bars and was bought from Jürgen (Hauff?) in Germany, www.s-parts.de
This is how they looked originally on arrival,
When I bought (many years ago) there were several leather options available of this model though delivery time for the fixed bar ones was a bit long.
Really stunning and an interesting year in history as well. This watch would have been roughly contemporary with the fictional Breguet of Stephen Maturin, which is fascinating to me anyway.
Is that a paper insert in the travel case with the maker's name on etc?
PS I hope the crystal is still the original hand blown glass :).
It's what called a pair case a double case. Not sure when the paper was put in but could of been done in it's many services it had in it's life time. A lot of vintage fusee pocket watches some times have 1-3 papers inside the case one for each service it had when watchmakers put those in before wristwatches now they put marks inside the case. On the back of the paper some thing was written with a quill ink pen.

Thanks, very helpful - I learn something every day here.
Heuer Flieger model 358 from 1937 - mono pusher Valjoux.22 - the bracelet is an original Gay Freres adjustable that allowed an airman to wear the the watch outside a flying jacket.

Heuer model 345 from 1945 - Valjoux.71 - bracelet is not original to the watch but suits it well.

Fantastic time piece with an amazing history. If only it could talk I wonder what it would say.
An ATP Tell, and a civilian Eberhard and co from the 1940's.
