New Seiko Solar divers - even further out of the park?

Apologies if this has already been covered but these are looking good!

New limited Solar tuna can at only 45.5mm and a Pelagos/ Spring drive-esc titanium solar diver aswell (44mm)

    https://seikoparts.wordpress.com/201...-tuna-is-here/

    Whats the verdict?

Do you have a model number for the one in the bottom photo? Small movement but I like it 😬

    It's the SBDJ013.

Had my eye on them for a few weeks. Rather annoyingly the price has leapt up by £50 since the Brexit result and the pound crashed. Am now patiently waiting until the pound improves or one of the UK sellers of JDM models starts stocking them. They certainly tick all the boxes for me though!

Same here, saw someone else post about it a few weeks ago and was going to get one for going on holiday then the crash. It's going to be a frustrating wait

Glad i'm not the only one kicking myself then! It seems to tick all the right boxes for me: titanium, all-black bezel, decent integrated date and no SKX-style hands which I really don't like much. I just wish the pound would get a bit stronger faster so I can grab one!

I'm just hoping it doesn't sell out like the tunas...

Pretty light though at 99g I believe (that'll be helped by the hollow end-links, which are arguably the only weak point in the whole design for me). I'm hoping the lug-to-lug of 52.6mm won't massively overhang my wrist!

Me too! Though there's a few places around selling so hopefully there's enough stock to go around!

For some reason this watch looks oddly out of proportion to me, maybe it's the bezel width. At any rate, not feeling the love on this one

I didn't realise they did a smaller 38mm version of this new solar diver, nice one!

I quite like this size in titanium. Do you think prices may go down in the near future?

I don't think the large one wears that big, although that's in large part due to the lightness of the Ti I would say. The black bezel of the SBDJ013 and big, bold face do make it appear quite deep (even though in reality it's not, and helped more so by the sloping bezel), but the lugs themselves wear relatively slim on it. Lug-to-lug is 52mm on it.

Here's a pic of it on my 7" wrist next to the SRP773 (48mm lug-to-lug):

Thanks. I've got a turtle as well so great feedback.

Has anyone tried the 38mm ones?

The Turtle by comparison is slightly thicker (the taller outer edge of the bezel [flat in line with the crystal] and cushion case make it wear bigger on the wrist even though in reality it's smaller. The weight on bracelet is almost double that of the Solar too so quite a heft when comparing them! Not sure what the weight of the 38mm is though?

I think you'll struggle to find many people who own these yet as they're such a new release and a JDM-only model.

When I was looking around before buying I enquired with several vendors if they could offer discounts and they all said the price was fixed, so to answer your eearlier question I wouldn't hold out too much for the price to drop.

Both the SBDN017 & 19 look rather nice.

Did I miss the lug-to-lug and case height on the new Tuna's? I quite fancy one of those and Solar power appeals more than Kinetic. Strangely attracted to the SBDN026, but small wrists always stop me pulling the trigger on previous Tuna's.

Perhaps I should try a used one.......

I've got the wrist for a 45mm diver, but much preffer under 40mm cases. Especially light titanium since I got SBGA127 last year. Seriously planning to get the SBDN015

I do like the tuna........tried to buy one before but it fell through. I don't know if I'd risk a new one without knowing how it would feel on my wrist. I like a big watch but the depth may be an issue, although I wear a g-shock beastie most of the time now anyway

That's annoying. Though with the time difference and such they might just be delayed.

The solar tuna or sun can is 45mm wise and I think 12.5mm thick. It's also quite a light watch. My wrist is 6.75mm. Here are some shots that may prove usefull:

It's easily the most everyday wearable of all the Tunas

These do look good, both the earlier SBDN013 and newer SBDN015

Might have preferred a steel case though, something about a titanium crown tube alarms me.

edit - noticed that the Seiko site listing I posted above quotes the same calibre number for both models, the V147.
C-watch on the other hand specify the V157 for the newer model (V147 and V157)

    - edit; here's one on rakuten; http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/w...p/item/pro061/

New Seiko Solar divers - even further out of the park?

SBDN015 and SBDN019, are they both black dials? 015 seems to be sunburst.

These pics from eBay actually show the difference. Seiko stock photos don't.

There's a few pics of the big brother SBDJ009 version over on WUS and it looks to have the matt black dial same as my SBDJ013, so unless the smaller size is specifically different, I'd say it was a trick of the light. Here's a pic from user 'zikkizidan' of his SBDJ009:

Beautiful watch, almost perfect, but .... (there is always a but) the crown looks too small IMHO.

Hope you enjoy it mate! My (ex) full size is off to it's new home as I type, so it'll be interesting to hear what the new owner makes of it. It is a great watch for the price point and I'm surprised there's not been more of a reception to it, if not here then certainly over on WUS! I think perhaps it's because it takes design elements from a few different other lines (ie; the Tuna hands, but Sumo-ish 20mm lugs and a lot of other things I'm sure I've missed!) that it's a bit more divisive?

Let us know what you think once it arrives anyway!

Impressed with time keeping too. +- 0 seconds since Wednesday morning. Hand hits markers perfectly as well. Same as the 9F GS I used to have.

Are you used to bigger or smaller sizes?

Yes, my 'big brother' was spot on with it's timekeeping and hitting the markers too.

P.S. You know you can edit posts rather than multiple posting straight after each other?
