    Steinhart Green Bezel

    afternoon lads

does this watch come with a ceramic bezel or is it aluminium?

think I'd prefer ceramic as it's harder wearing.

looks like a beautiful watch regardless

Aluminium. If there was a ceramic bezel option there would be a drop down for it (have a look at the Ocean 1 Black for comparison).

The green is definitely aluminium. Ceramic only in black

    cheers lads.

is one of the main differences from the ceramic and aluminium just that it's tougher wearing?

sorry if it seem a daft question, just want to be sure

Ceramic isn't going to withstand impacts like aluminum will. I guess it's less scratch resistant though. Not that I know anything.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

so there's not a massive difference between the two then.

I've just had a look at the Christopher ward watches..look very nice.

couldn't see a green bezel though in the collection on their website.

I'm torn really between Steinhart and Christopher Wars now ha!

Ceramic, to all extents and purposes, is scratchproof – not less resistant to scratches.
As pointed out, under impact, aluminium/steel will deform, whereas sapphire/ceramic will crack – but they’ll still withstand a knock, it’s just the severity and angle (glancing blow vs perpendicular loading) that decides whether the material remains intact or not.

They don’t have any left – not sure if it was a limited edition only, but it may be worth giving them a call and asking if they could make a change to one of the current models, using one of their spare green bezels.

Have owned both, currently got the Ocean one in Titanium- both brands are good value,Steinhart prob shades it for vfm as CW prices have risen sharply over the last few years.

Yeah, I am impressed by the Steinhart, not a massive fan of the logo of the CW on the dial! food for thought anyway! in terms of the functionality between the ocean 1 and the trident pro?

Been wearing my Ocean one as a daily beater for the last couple of months, still looks brand new. Wanted to try a Titanium watch so looked at CW & Steinhart- CW is minutes frm my house so popped along to have a look at their offering, at twice the amount f the Steinhart it didn't float my boat. Just think Steinhart beats it in every category, better movement, higher grade titanium etc........ Agree about the logo, it looks awful on the CW.

Love my Steinhart at the moment, my other watches aren't getting a look in ( Speedmaster racing & seamaster chrono)

At least wth CW they operate a no quibble returns policy, so easy to try and see how you get on with it.

If you're concerned about bezel wear or damage then just buy a spare when you're purchasing the watch - they're only 15euro.
Given the option I'd pick the Steinhart.

Never had a CW, but in all likelihood, and being at this end of the market, there’s minimal difference between most of the brands.
It’ll come down to convenience, customer service, which design/size you’ll prefer most.

I got my Steinhart green bezel back in 2012. After a couple of years of normal wear (and I don't mean fixing cars, or rock climbing; just gym, office, shopping, etc) the bezel was horrendously scratched, and the watch looked pretty run down as a result :(
I got the bezel replaced a year-or-so ago (new bezel was about 15 euros), and the watch looked superb again! Only problem was, every time I wore it, I'd be scared of scratching the bezel again, and so ended up leaving it at home for much of the time. To cut to the chase, after only about 20-25 days of wear in the past year [note: i wear my watches on rotation], it got scratched on a lowly door handle! Mighty fed up, i was!!! So, I reckon that, I'm likely to average one new bezel every two years!
I've spoken to Steinhart about this, and almost begged them to make a green ceramic bezel, but they said that they had no plans. WHY???!!!!!!!! so frustrating.
At my next bezel swap, I don't know whether to go for a replacement green, or just plump for the less interesting black ceramic (which does look fantastic!! but it's just not what i want).
So, mine advice would be: if you're 50-50 between the black ceramic and the green aluminium inlays, then go for the black ceramic; it'll mean much less worrying in the long-run.

    mykk

I think Steinhart are a fantastic brand.

My son bought a green Ocean 1 and has worn it non stop for the last six months with not a mark on it.

Here is my blue Ocean with the ceramic bezel. A gorgeous watch.

And a pic with their proper brother the Hulk.

Why not buy the black ceramic in SC at a great price and buy a green bezel. Best of both then

Green and blue Steinhart are 42mm without the crown. The blue has a slightly better movement and a see through case back.

Really nice watches and in no way embarrass themselves with the Hulk.

I have the Ocean One Green and the Ocean One Titanium Pro 500, which has the black ceramic bezel. Love them both - fantastic looks and quality for the money IMO.

OP, I'd say go for it - don't think you'll be disappointed.
