Another vote for the GMT from me. So versatile and makes me smile every time I wear it.

My PRS-29a is probably the one I'd go for as well. Perfectly understated, classy, but with a practical spec. The fact that it's such a faithful reproduction of the original gives it some heritage as well.

I was also going to say Rolex SD4k 116600, but...not only just for the sake of variety but also because it genuinely is the watch i miss the most I nominate the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal LIMITED EDITION, for the following reasons:

    - most comfortable and proportionate (slimmer) first gen PO case
    - work horse coaxial 2500 movement
    - that glossy dial
    - those bright red accents
    - that liquid metal bezel
    - truly "limited" to 1967 pieces

Hard to say but would be a toss up between a Rolex DSSD or Kobold Seal.
Itnisnhard to single out 1 though. But, these are two watches thatbalways make me think that they got everything right.

TT Sub with ceramic bezel in blue. We have other stainless ones like The Hulk and Batman, but the gold in the Smurf colour gives it such a presence. I love that watch.

    This:

Not flash, but accurate, never runs out of batteries, never have to wind it up, supremely comfortable and virtually indestructible. Even worn it with black tie.

A lot of love for the GMT on this thread - and I'd like to add mine. Bought new in 1986 and, whilst I've flirted with a few others, it's rarely been off my wrist since.

This is the best I think.
Lug holes, tritium, unpolished, and I really enjoy the top heavy feeling that many complain about. Comparatively I find the sub/gmt very lightweight.

That said, despite the SD being "best" I've had, the oysterquartz is my favourite. (I don't own it anymore)

I know it's an obvious answer, but sometimes those obvious answers are the right ones. I've worn little else this summer.

Since I retired a couple of years ago I have focussed more on funds rather than appearance, so I have disposed of all my "willy-waving-watches". My son has a couple of Nomos watches and has no interest in anything of mine and, since I lost the love for divers, the one that gives me most enjoyment nowadays is a humble SARB 033 purchased from SC and currently on a tan Hirsch calf strap. I also have a nice, reliable and surprisingly accurate Amphibia with plain bezel from a certain gentleman on the Forum (doffs cap).

So for me arguably it wasn't my 'most desirable' but my the one I have enjoyed owning the most whilst being the most practical / wearable'

I suppose this one, it works with jeans and t-shirt as well as with black tie.

Close seconds are my recently acquired Rolex Explorer II and the obvious Omega Speedmaster.

    Subtle you say? Ummm ;).

Mine would be a humble quartz that started me looking at different watches. I own watches costing 10x more which are better in many ways but this would be the last to leave the collection so by that definition it's my best.

BTW, mine is so precise that I can't detect any variation at all. But then my spring drive has gained one second in two months. Seiko have this stuff nailed.
Nice strap, might put mine on one.

The only watch in my collection I can confidently say I'll never sell, which I guess makes it my best watch:

Sadly it's gone now and will probably never own one again, but it was for me my perfect watch and that meteorite dial used to have me mesmerized.

I have mine on a Brady sailcloth strap, which works well I think (very similar to the one pictured) especially since the bracelet (and especially the clasp) lets it down rather.

I think he's saying the complications are subtly executed, which to be fair, I agree with. The annual calendar in particular.

The overal design though, you're right, is as subtle as a brick.

Actually, I wasn't referring to the complications and maintain the watch is subtle.

It's a silver coloured black dial watch on a leather strap. Fits under a cuff. Not universally recognised.

Apart from the watch geeks out there, no one would know what it is, therefore, offering a degree of subtlety.

+1. I think this may have been the actual watch I owned- special edition for the Japanese market. Best case ever. Best dial ever. One of the best movements ever.

Just an incredible watch. Makes a Calatrava look like a cheap piece of tat in comparison!

Thank you, I was quite impressed with how it came out (only an iPhone shot)

I like the 116660 just wish it wasn't as thick that's the only bit holding me off getting one.

Omega Seamaster 120M for me. Predecessor of the Aqua Terra, does everything I need. It wears well with a suit or casual and doesn't stand out at all.

I've not owned as many as a few of the members here, but for me without a doubt it is the 2254.50. A fantastic all around watch which can be worn in almost any occasion and looks equally fantastic mint or with wabi.
On the more "budget" side of things, I don't think anything can touch the Frogman, which offers great versatility and vfm all around

Definitely the GMT-II for me as well considering I bought one nearly 2 months ago and haven't worn anything else since. When I fancy a change I just swap the strap. It's currently back on the bracelet but here's my Friday picture when it was on a nato.

    Railmaster XXL

Only had it for a short while but always regretted the fact that I sold it.
The 49mm and classic shape was unique.
Will buy one again but they don't come around that much..

I've coveted the Rolex Explorer 114270 for some time and now that I have it, it's certainly the best watch I've ever owned. The 36mm case is the perfect size and the design is versatile enough to work in any situation. I love it's subtlety and that it flies under the radar. In many ways it is the antithesis of the modern bloated Rolex sports range.

Should be my BLNR but because I wore it for 14 years solid my seamaster 120 automatic is still my favourite.
