Birth Year Watches for your kids...

I know that some on here have bought birth year watches for their kids when they are born (I guess birth year watches are easier to get hold of when they are new! )

Show us what your lucky kids have got in the safe (or on your wrist being kept wound for them) waiting for them.

This came out when he came out. It's worn every so often. As I would have preferred that, if that makes sense. My watch dad wore or dads watch etc

I don't think it's a good idea at all. Most kids aren't interested in watches these days, in ten to fifteen years time, that interest will be virtually zero.

Unless of course it's an excuse to buy and wear a nice watch, that's a different story altogether.

    I bought this...

... And The week my boy was born. Either he is interested and he takes it or I get to keep a lovely watch as a momento. It's currently on a GGB strap with his name in morse code on the buckle.

My son will get most of my watches so I didn't feel the need to buy something new.

I have a Seiko Solar Flightmaster (SSC009) with a production date of September 2011, the same "production date" my little girl has (5 next week).

It was a total accident, but when I realised the dates tallied I knew it'd be a keeper.

I can't imagine her ever wanting it, it's just a nice thing to have to commemorate. Now I need a January 2016 one for the lad. ;)

Birth Year Watches for your kids...

2013 was a very good year!

Made in May 2013, makes this watch even more special for me.

Yum. That's fantastic James. Your daughter is very lucky. Has a bit of the sky dweller about it too (in a good way) compared to my very sterile but very elegant silver stick oyster DJ

I have no kids but it does seem like a decent excuse for a new watch. I would certainly have loved to get one from my father for a significant birthday or event. Sadly he has about as much interest in watches as GrandS.

I have twin boys who were born in 2009 and I managed to pick up a lovely v-series sea dweller on here for one of them, but I am looking for a second 2009 watch for the other one.

In reality it is a great excuse to spend money on watches as I tend to agree that they are unlikely to be into watches in 15 years or so.

I also agree that it would be nice to inherit something that dad has worn for years.

Good luck finding the right pieces for all your little ones.

Hulk for my boy, bought second hand but unfortunately 4 days out on the date, 4th August 2015 instead of the 8th.

P.s. Love that vulcain! Never heard of them so off to google them now!
