Looks like it's closing down:

Obviously sad for the staff and I guess the best stock will just be shifted to Leeds or Wilmslow but there may still be some decent bargains.
I only went in once about 5 years ago but it was a stunning building but even then the area was looking pretty run down - the article says the area is now an eyesore. Not the best kind of environment for an upmarket jeweller. I would think the bargains are only going to be things that won't sell as full price in the other stores. Sad...
A friend is popping in later, so will let others know if any bargains to be had.
As they have other branches, I see it as unlikely. The closure of the building is the main factor here. No doubt walk in trade has diminished, but I'm sure the business will continue.
Sad news for sure.
Got my first Rolex from here on my 18th birthday and later worked there as a Saturday 'boy'. One of the few places where customer service was put first.
The owner of Prestons of Bolton is the same chap who owns Cottrill's so no doubt they will continue that arm of the business, but the magic of Prestons of Bolton is something else!
Hell's teeth!! If Prestons of Bolton is situated in a run-down eyesore area, I hope the author of the report never has to visit where I live!
Great shame. Have bought both my wife's Rolexes there and on both occasions they made it a special experience and easy haggle for 13% discount. Those were the days
Stunning building but surrounded by ever declining secondary/tertiary retail area
Interesting - Preston acquired Cottrills in Wilmslow approximately three years ago.
I have purchased several Panerai and Zenith pieces from Cottrills, and they host some great launch parties!
Phil Moore is the best watch sales manager that I have met, he is passionate about his trade.
There is no mention of the Wilmslow branch in this article - I would wager that Prestons will focus on the Wilmslow store for watches and high end jewelry.
Any connection with Preston and Duckworth in Guildford?
No Preston and duckworth are a one off Jewlers, there used to be 4 branches but just one one, however there is a presto so in Guildford who are a Rolex AD,who have had no stock for a couple of months,I thought that they may have lost the Rolex agency, maybe they will be closing as well?
Tony
Went into the Wilmslow branch a few days ago, couple of teenagers running it.
Agree, best popping into the 2 grey dealers on water lane.

Do you remember the cinema ads for Prestons of Bolton.... perhaps it was just a northern thing
Unless they have been sold in the past few months all four stores in Bolton, Guildford, Leeds and Wilmslow are all still under the same ownership. I.e. these are the four stores listed in Prestons Rolex and Tudor Baselworld 2016 brochure that they sent to their customers once full details of the new models were known.
