Slow iPad after BT Infinity/Smart Hub Upgrade?

Upgraded last week to Infinity and the new BT Smart Hub dropped through the letterbox. In the deepest darkest Highlands, going from 4Mbps to 44Mbps is an unexpected but welcome opportunity.

All my devices seem fine (Mac, PC, Xbox, IPhone, Sky Box, etc) but my iPad isn't happy. It feels as if it's getting clogged up. After a few minutes of browsing on Safari or Chrome, pages simply stop loading or hang for minutes.

Speedtest's are fine, so it can use the full potential download speed but browsing websites has become an intermittent pain in the backside.

It's a 3rd generation iPad, so definitely due an upgrade, but I'm surprised having never had issues before.

Can anyone shed any light on the problem? I've googled to no avail, reset the iPad and router several times as well as reset the iPad network settings. The only thing I haven't done is turning off the dual band 2.4/5ghz, mainly because I assumed my old BT hub 4 specs would have been similar.

I think you may have answered your own question, we had very similar problems only a couple of weeks ago along with the wifi struggling to reconnect after we came back into range.

I split the bands and all was fine again, in fact I have purposely not connected to the 5Ghz network as it is more important for me to have the greater range than the increased speed (I live in the middle of nowhere so no issues with the 2.4Ghz being crowded)

Thanks all. I changed the DNS servers and didn't experience any problems in the short time I had to test it.

I thought that since there's no harm in splitting the bands, I did that too.

Completely trouble free now - Thanks again
