Now driving a Vauxhall Corsa courtesy car which I hate. Thanks to a VW Passat driver who reversed into me and drove off, switching off his lights in the process to avoid his number plate being taken!

Some fab cars in this thread!

When did the 911 get so fat? Looks only a bit smaller than my R35, and boy did she have a big backend!

so, from a little googling around:

    GTR 1902mm
    current 991.2 2wd 1808mm
    991.2 4wd 1852mm
    991.2 Turbo/RS 1880mm

and from the back catalogue (all 2wd versions):

    964 1650mm
    993 1735mm
    996 1765mm
    997 1808mm

so you're right, bigger than the earlier cars, but no bigger than the 997, which surprises some people.
Anyhow, here's the fat front to go with it

I remember two things about driving one of these, the pedals are about a foot further forward than they need to be and it has very intrusive ESP which spoils all the fun. I think it was a SLK dressed up for the American market. Not bad for cruising round in, which is what I suspect most owners use it for.

But that is the SRT-6 with the supercharged AMG engine delivering 330 BHP instead of the standard 215 BHP. Different suspension and brakes too.

Only 105 made in the hardtop in RHD, 90 still registered and fewer than a third in black. Made by Karmann in Germany.

With the stiffer suspension and harsher ride you'll probably be glad of the ESP.

It varies depending what you read but somewhere from 4.1 to 4.9.

^Wet roundabouts should be fun - I used to like driving around Sheffield years ago. Out on to Snake Pass occasionally. I should imagine it's changed a bit since the early 90s though.

Looks good, I've only ever seen one on the road before. I'd lose the aftermarket badges though.

I expect 0-60 is more likely to be 4.9 than 4.1, but either way - it's no slouch

What is with the ///AMG badge?

I think the spoiler really makes it. I can see why the un-spoilered rear attracted some comments, but with it... I like it.

I think the opposite wiht the TVR Tuscan. The later mods and the spoiler ruin the rear completely.

It's built by Karmann in Germany and has the Mercedes 3.2 litre supercharged AMG engine. Basically it's an SLK with a different body, the floor pan, drive train and most of the interior are all Mercedes.

Well... that proves every day can be a school day! I bet these are currently a bargain as the SLK 320Ks start to take off in price!

These are also starting to climb in value. With only 90 RHD hardtops (slightly more cabriolets), good ones are scarce.

Incoming on Friday, new Mini Cooper S F56 with full John Cooper Works Exhaust & tuning kit (didn't want a JCW model due to rock hard suspension), best fwd car I have driven in a long time, better than the Fiesta ST200 in my opinion and way classier too. Can't wait.

So being completely aware of how aesthetically challenged these old motors are, I thought I'd share a pic of my first car – a Dutton I've had for 25 years now and still in use two or three times a week. It has huge sentimental value (originally a gift from my father and we restored it together during my teens) so I just gave it a respray to help the quite hilariously poor quality original gelcoat that was beginning to resemble crazy paving. I also treated it to some new wheels. It's running a tuned Ford Crossflow with around 120bhp – quick but not fast if you know what I mean:

I also have another one in the garage that I'm building for sprints and hillclimbs. I suppose I'm like a care home for rubbish old kit cars, but Duttons are cheap and with a few mods to the woeful original chassis you can make them quite engaging to drive. That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

I just picked up a 3rd gen (F56) Mini Cooper S Works, it sits in the range between the Cooper S & JCW but has the softer suspension of the S with the looks of the JCW and power sitting mid way between the two. It has the JCW Bluetooth controlled exhaust which Mini make you sign a disclaimer on that you'll not use it on the road as with the silencer valve open it sounds awesome and even spits and backfires; I know it's immature but it sounds bloody brilliant and makes me chuckle. It's a lovely fun car which I much preferred to the Fiesta ST despite all the magazine reviews saying buy the Ford.

I really like the look too. Mine is black, with black 18" JCW alloys, tinted rear glass, de-chromed, black leather interior, piano black trim, Anthracite head lining (Yes you get the gist, I like black). But it looks quite moody and a bit more macho as far as Mini's go. It's a real hoot and the power delivery and traction are superb. The twinpower BMW 2.0 T48 engine is a work of art, especially with the JCW exhaust.

This for me. I really like it. Goes and handles well. Just wish I'd gone for the estate version although I'm tempted to ask work about the electric hybrid and save a load on P11-D

^ what model 3 is it? I've been looking at either 328i or a 335i in that same colour.

  37. #3487

    What do you drive?

At present this Audi TT. Not sure if I should of gone for a Audi A5, or Golf GTI so I could fit the kids in if needs be... The TT does look better though, and it's got a huge spec list.

Hi it's a 320d M Sport 8 speed auto, the new 190 BHP engine. Good performance and 50 mpg on a run.

    I'd rather have a 335i though

This for a couple of months now one of the last D4s, so different to what I have had before, and apart from the fuel consumption I really love it, especially so when the sun is out its like a another colour.

That is nice, I'm seriously considering taking the step into a proper car, do think the 6 is out of range but looking at the RS4 Vs M3

Just picked up my new daily but still have the M135i for weekends

Yeah I remember the pics, did enquire about the RS3 saloon but not sure if going to be a decent step up in size over the 1 series.

M3 is looking the most likely option as we have a great local dealership.
