Incoming very blue pre xmas present

I normally wouldn't comment on a retailer as from high street AD to bricks and mortar specialists I have never received a service that in my opinion warranted any praise though Chronext have been a breath of fresh air and amazing from start to finish.
I placed the order on Sunday evening and was promptly called on Monday to thank me for my order and confirm that there would not be a two week wait as originally instructed on the website and that I should in fact have the watch before Christmas!
I received two further phone calls first to let me know the watch was received in Cologne and being shipped to their London branch, second letting me know it had arrived in London and had been inspected by their watch maker and been prepared for next day AM delivery. I am most impressed with their personal touch as well as their professionalism, not to mention the price I paid :P OK enough of that and onto the watch...

Having owned a few Omegas in recent years that have all left me cold, plus being a Rolex man through and through I actually didn't see myself owning another.
My 2531 Bond Seamaster was the longest I managed to keep hold of an Omega but I quickly fell out of love with the wavy dial and ended up flipping it for yet another Rolex. I have to say when the new ceramic Seamaster first arrived I was not convinced especially by the blue dial version but I recently started looking at these in black dial form and decided to give one a try. At the last hour I changed my mind and decided to go for the blue dial and I'm so glad that I did.
The dial is just glorious and although so different to the sunburst dial of my 16613 it is just as mesmerising, changing hue constantly from light blue right through to grey and even black.
When compared to the previous model Seamaster it doesn't even feel like the same watch, Omega have improved the quality of the watch and whole experience from the cushion to the box and packaging ten fold. I have unboxed the watch for some quick pics but unfortunately by order of swmbo it must not be worn to Christmas day :(

    Enjoy the pics.

Congrats! I wasn't a fan at first but for some reason it's really growing on me especially the blue dial.

Yep, that'll do. Have it washed and sent to my room.

The whole presentation and aesthetics do appear to have moved on since I bought my brand spankers 2531 a million years ago. They seem to have thoroughly got rid of any remaining pretence of it being a tool watch - not in a bad way, just seems to be aimed at a slightly different place now.

I do like then very much indeed. An excellent pressie (and your Missus is right of course!). Congrats :)

Very nice, like the attention to detail in aligning all the screw heads on the box hinges and clasp.

Thats's stunning. I didn't realise the "wave" dial has been replaced with the gloss like the black. More pics please :-)

Also the box (I know it's only a box) look's really special

Omega are really cranking it up now :-)

That whole package looks very nice indeed. Just three more sleeps

Very nice. Ceramic bezel Seamasters are great. The only thing I would change is the damn skeleton hands. They drive me crazy. It looks almost black on my IPhone!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I really am looking forward to wearing this one out to see the colour change in the dial :)

This piece really has brought back my faith in Omega.

When I bought my speedy I thought the exact same.

    Stunner!!

That's a great catch that one and I must agree with others regarding the fantastic boxes that Omega put out with their watches, it really does put Rolex to shame as do many other manufacturers come to think of it!!!

My favourite-designed date window on a watch. I think it's so very elegantly done.

Worth buying for the box alone with the added bonus of a beautiful watch!

After owning a bond and a 2254 I've always thought I was done with Seamaster but the ceramic blue dial is tempting and chronext prices are great for a watch that could easily become a daily wearer.

Has the bracelet improved at all or will it suffer from the same fragile pins as my old bond did?

The bracelet has improved ten fold and has finally moved over to screws rather than those awful pins! I'll post some more pics tomorrow once I'm allowed to open it.

SMPc is a great watch. Omega have certainly upped the game in box department since I got mine too. Enjoy your blue lovliness. :-)

I bought mine last year and got the old red box - am very jealous of the new ones. My speedy has the red box too. Curses!

It is only screw caps - so not as good as it could be. I prefer the old pin and collar to this half and half approach - but the screw heads look nice ;)
It's just a matter of time...

Far easier to adjust at home so this is an improvement for me. I found the pin/collars a PITA

I love the date font too, very nice.

Lovely watch. Congratulations. Are there any official omega rubber straps available to fit these any more?

I posted on another thread here about SMPs that I still prefer the anodized blue bezel and wavy dial of the 2531 but that really is gorgeous....
it looks better in those pics than the ones I've seen for sale on sites.

In fact if I don't get one via SC and go through a dealer it becomes tougher as that thread said they are very close on pricing in retailers as 10 yr old 2531s are priced strongly.

Thanks for info on colour changes and I know you will have had a very merry Christmas with that under the tree
