Yes, Viscount would seem a more appropriate name for a Pilots style watch. Good suggestion Ewan, gets my vote. :)
I thought it was all settled but Ewan came up with another appropriate name
Two names were out in front last time, so forget the others and vote again. Last time, honest!Nothing like being too late! Seeing Vanguard as the leader here made me think of Viscount:
Quite 'British' and as an aviation enthusiast then the Viscount was the first turboprop airliner (thus being a Vanguard of sorts!) and it entered service in April 53, just a few weeks before the Everest conquest.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Viscount sounds like a biscuit.... Pathfinder still for me (though seems the new name will win!!)
Oh heck, just pick one and lets get on with it.
Did I mention my impatient side?
I agree about the biscuit. I immediately thought of this: http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.c...s.php3?item=30Originally Posted by Jonmurgie

I like the sound/history behind Viscount .. so my vote goes there.

Viscount would indeed be an excellent name for an aviation-style watch ... which the 1016 homage isn't. :?Originally Posted by Griswold
Failing the more terrestrial theme of a famous tank name like Churchill, Cromwell, Crusader, Centurion Chieftain, Challenger, and Warrior, I would stick with Vanguard.

I like the name, though still prefer Vanguard-it means rather more, and has better resonances. imho.
Comet is a good one (terrestrial and airborne), imho.
Recce has an amusing double meaning, alluding to it's toughness
Best wishes,
AP:)
Of the 3 I'd go with Vanguard, not for any other reason than I prefer the sound. I agree Viscount does bring to mind the biscuit

Can't we just call it the PRS?? and get on with building it?
Why is this one having a name ?
Better make it a discount watch Eddie :D
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
I'm with Geoff but as long as the name is on the back I'll be able to wear even a watch called Viscount with only minimal embarrassment. (Still prefer Pathfinder, though, if it has to have a name.)Originally Posted by GeoffD
To be clear, I'd be happy to buy it under any of these 3 names, just looking forward to it appearing!

Viscount reminds me of those minty chocolate biscuits
Viscount was also the brand name of a range of particularly cheap and nasty electronic organs from Italy that I used to flog in a previous life.
Even though a Vickers Viscount was the first airplane to make me violently ill, I have to vote for it! Just sounds right IMO.
Viscount.

PS: what's the ballpark price aimed for on this one Eddie?
Maybe it's just me, but with the Yao version being called Vantage, I'm not comfortable with calling it anything (beginning with a V?) that may bring scorn from the nay sayers claiming that it's riding on the back of the Yao.
Vantage sounds good to me, although Tenzing or Norgay would be the right choice IMO, but name rights might be an issue. :-(
Pathfinder was model of Riley, Viscount was Vauxhall, Vangaurd was a Standard - nothing to with aerploanes but the Riley was the gentlemans steed of choice. Seems fitting somehow?
I vote Vanguard.

pathfinder sounds positive
didnt they lead the Lancasters in on the bombing missions on the ruhr?
or have i got it wrong again...
i also put pathfinder on my truck when i was negotiateing the mines in central bosnia.....
Vanguard. No need to re-open this as it will be endless
I voted Vanguard, am pleased to see that it is still leading...
and yes... this will be endless...
Just what pops in my mind upon hearing these names:
Viscount
Vanguard
OR
OR (on bad days)
Pathfinder
precista pathfinder
it just sounds right......
