There are two things which spring to mind as my best purchase this year...
Finally got a Reverso
also a signed postcard of someone I'm a huuuuge fan of...with a nice story behind the purchase too
Some lovely purchases made by you lot this year, I especially love that vintage(70's) Zenith chronograph!
Mine isn't as posh as most shared here, but it immediately became my most worn watch and it's barely been off the wrist since purchase. This little super compressor...
screen capture windows 7
My only purchase of 2016.
A complete spur of the moment purchase but it's probably this...
Its quite hard to capture the deep blue of the dial, but it's been great watching the case patina developing naturally week by week
This one for me...A gift from my Father...
Also picked up this one which I absolutely love...

Only one watch purchased in 2016, and it was an impulse buy from SC....I love it though!
This fellow here.

Best purchase was my new BMW :-
It's getting me out and about in the fresh air in all weathers and I'm loving it.
Best watch related spend was getting Cannop to give my late father's Seiko a new lease of life
In terms of £, it's worth less than any other watch I own, but to me it's worth more than all of the rest of them put together.
It has to be that one. I wear it everywhere.
Closely followed by this little guy:
Definitely this!
Should have this in my wrist tomorrow.
Maybe I will change my mind!

Cheers - yes it was one of the main reasons I was looking out for an A829, it was nice to find a 6029 variant in such great condition. Here's an image of Paul Scully-Power the Payload Specialist (and first astronaut to launch with a beard) on Space Shuttle mission STS-41-G wearing his.
It joined a bunch of other space related watch purchases this year. These are just some of them, all flight-qualified by NASA.
Not an easy one because I bought a couple of interesting watches but perhaps the Omega 33.3 in the middle:
On the other end the Hahnhart is max bang for bucks. The Deutsche Heer Longines has an interesting story (father of seller got it as a boy from an SS officer in WW II) and is in wonderful condition.
Another interesting Longines I acquired this year:
.
Chronostop which was made in pretty limited numbers.
On the Heuer front it was pretty quiet:
I just realise that for the first time in years I did not buy a Rolex...

An awful lot has gone due to a change in priorities; however this has stayed and although I wear it very infrequently, I hope it stays for a while.
1 of 25, my Glashutte Original Alfred Helwig Flying Tourbillon. Delicate at 38mm and low key with its brushed case. Definitely at its best under a loupe where you can see the dial textures, the incredible carriage of the tourbillon and its diamond end stones.
I got this Within the last week although I won it I chose it this one I bought in September and it's my daily wearer

Since I'm a little bit crazy about the Seiko 6159 600m Tunas, I was glad to acquire this one from a local seller:
And it even came with its original rubber strap ...
The following acquisition was at least as important to me: a Seiko 7C43-700B in relatively poor condition...
...has now been restored to this:
These silver/white dial 7C43's have been in production for only a few years. I'm really glad that I have been able to restore it.
Overall this
On the watch front probably this
Andy
Wanted - Damasko DC57
Either this
Or
And apologies for the usual bad photos
Without doubt, this
Wanted one for ages, put the monies together and managed to find a good, original one. Such a good watch
Dave
This one for me...
I bought it new (unusual for me!) after wanting one for a while.
I just wish I would have bought one sooner. Personally? I think they are great for the money!.
Have to say it was the Lanco I bought on SC.

Was a grail for me and it hasn't let me down, I love it -

Made a couple of purchases this year but this is one of my favourites.
I had already bought one vintage Longines, a little dress watch from the SC, and seemingly wasn't yet satiated. I had been looking at various watches from the very early seventies, eg this Omega Geneve
but hadn't found one with enough character to be sure that they would have enough presence to counteract the old-fashioned size. Then this popped up for sale
I was a bit cautious about how horrible the lume has gone on the hands, but thought I could probably live with that. I could. Immediately it became one of my main watches. The severity of the case styling makes up for the 34mm diameter, and it never feels small, just sleek. The overall quality, aside from the hands, is excellent. It feels like a solid watch with decades more life in it.
Easily my 6159, love it, can't get it off my wrist.
I didn't buy a watch last year, so this -
Probably my 16800. Sharp case and turning matte as we speak.
Only bought four watches this year two desent ones the other two beaters and one of them I gave away. But the two best ones were these. The Omega I had to find a correct original second hand and the spacer ring that was missing holding the dust cover in place but it's all correct now. Just got the CWC chronograph issued in 1981 back from service and it's going on 22 days wearing it the longest I wore one watch in a long time surprising I have not yet had to reset the time on it yet so keeping great time.
