Thread: New Navitimer, what do you think?

  1. #1

New Navitimer, what do you think?

I've just collected this Navitimer package, it's a A23322 from 2006 that had just returned from a full service and refurb.
Plan A was to take the bracelet off the watch and sell it and wear the watch on the strap, but now I'm not so sure.

I'd like to ask any Navitimer owners out there what they prefer and even if you don't have one what is your preference and why?

Just a personal opinion but I have always considered the Navi a strap watch and certainly looks better on leather.

    Looks good in the pics

I prefer the strap as well, it looks a bit too bling you on the bracelet.

Well, bucking the general consensus here, I'd wear this on the 'Pilot' bracelet. It's a classic design and suits the Navi' so well. Then occasionally, put on a tan calf for an occasional change.

Leather but keep the bracelet you may change your mind and it will make it a lot more saleable as a package if you want to sell it

I own a A41370 from 2007 and bought new, I've only ever worn it on a black strap with white stitching. BUT next time it comes up for wrist rotation I'm thinking of putting on mesh which I think suits a navitimer very well.

Calf leather strap all the time.

Just sorted out a brown one for mine. Always worn black with white stitching before.

No, no, no, no, no, a Navi was never never intended to be on a mesh bracelet. Mesh bracelets are for diving watches, IMHO.
Did you ever see an 806 AOPA Navi on mesh???? Oh, & black dialled watches should only be on 'tan' leather to be sure;)

It's a great watch, I hope you're enjoying the A23322, right up until you try to change the date

Having tried, what feels like every OEM strap available on both my A23322, and my later B01, there's only one option that I think is perfect for the black dial/white subdial version, and that's the Breitling Black Calf with white stitching.

The bracelet is lovely, but doesn't share the classic look in my opinion. Surprisingly, the cheaper calf looks better than the busier croco too - detailed dial plus grain detailed strap looked too much to my eye.

I think it looks great on black calf with white stitching, but the bracelet really sets the Navi off nicely - so either from me.

Gotta go with the leather strap on a navitimer it's shear watch porn, just about the sexiest watch to have adorned the planet.

Wish I'd never sold my 2008 model would love to get my hands on another

I too bought my Navitimer World on leather and definitely wouldn't put it on a steel bracelet, I don't think they look 'right' at all... and as for the mesh, oooh No...

    Now that is nice!

The Navitimer bracelets are nice and the white/ivory face does look fetching on bracelet.
Straps are also a great option.
    Mesh OTOH doesn't suit,IMO.

Strap all day for me but then I think that for most watches - definitely for the Nav though and whilst I generally prefer a brown strap it the black works best.

Congrats on a beautiful watch!. I think the Navitimer looks best on leather. So classy!. I also think the Speedmaster professional looks best on leather too. Here are my duo!.

If it was me I'd keep the bracelet and mix it up as and when I want a change. The two options give the watch a very different look, one more subtle, one more chunky and dressy.

TBH I find bracelets more comfortable compared to leather if I'm wearing the watch for prolonged periods, particularly in warmer weather so I may be a little biased.

Keep the bracelet (unless you really need the funds) and give yourself some flexibility.

The polished bracelet was too bling for me. Managed to find a NOS vintage leather strap which it now rocks

I think it looks better on a strap than the bracelet.

I always think Navitimers look odd on bracelets, personally.

They just seem to suit leather better, in my view.

I had a Navi before and wore it on a black croco strap. The metal on those can look a bit "bling"

Doesn't work for me on the Oyster.

This is the first iconic watch I remember seeing. Ever. Before any Rolex etc. When I used to think of luxury watches this model is what I would've thought of.

It works too well on leather for anything else to be an option!
