    New Hamilton Intra Matic 68

    http://www.timeandwatches.com/2017/0...ic-68.html?m=1

he new*Hamilton Intra-Matic 68*is a limited edition inspired by the historical Chronograph B of 1968 and known by connoisseurs for its black and white reversed "panda" dial.

In 1968 Hamilton presented the Chronograph A with black subdials on a white dial and the Chronograph B with two white subdials lying against a black background, creating a "reverse panda" face, a type of dial design very popular in the 60s and 70s but still appreciated today.

Circled by a white tachymeter scale, the black dial features hour and minute hands treated with Super-LumiNova for higher legibility.

The 42 mm round case is crafted from polished stainless steel and features with vintage-feel pushers placed on each side of the screwed-crown allowing to guarantee water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The Intra-Matic 68 is powered by the automatic H-31 movement (based on the ETA Valjoux 7753) beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 60-hour power reserve.

The retro character and vintage feel is further accentuated by a domed-shape dial and curved hands. The black calf leather strap is perforated for a 60’s-style sporty touch.

The Hamilton Intra-Matic 68 will be produced in 1,968 pieces with a retail price of Swiss Francs 2,150.*hamiltonwatch.com

I like that a lot, but I can't imagine Hamilton have a less suitable name in their catalogue for this than Intra Matic. It is the polar opposite of the Intra Matic in every way!

Of course, I'll retract that and take the education if there is indeed a historical Intra Matric chrono.

Even though it's slightly larger than ideal at 42mm I'm still instantly in love with it. At £1750 new it's a good deal and will be tremendous value on the used market.

It’s hard to fault, and the price is not ludicrous by current standards at about £1750. Very nice.

As an aside, does anyone know where I might get a strap of the type above? Perforated, but not all the way through.

I can't find any info on thickness of the case. I think it looks spot on from the images so far

    Beautiful.

Don't like the italic Hamilton though. Very off putting for some reason

Like that very much. I can see them selling all 1968 of them quickly.

That is a lovely watch, I would prefer 38-40mm but still, it's a beauty.

Worn and Wound review (last watch reviewed and plenty of pictures).

TOTALLY agree. That's a beautiful watch but would have loved it to be a shade smaller. Seiko "Baby Panda" size would have been lovely.

It's the lugs for me that's all. Everyone's perceptions will be different but next to the Chrono-matic on the Worn and Wound site, it just looks really large.

The size looks ideal to me for such a chrono meaning that the sub-dials are a good size / useable. Personally, my reservation is the price in that this is quite steep for a Hamilton. I appreciate that it is a LE and that is has quite a modified movement but it still seems a bit dear to me, again, for a Hamilton. I normally regard this as a great value rather than a premium brand. The frequent discounting as Ashfords etc bears this out. Great looking watch though and I am sure that these will sell out easily.

I think he is wearing the watch at an odd location on his wrist and it is not sitting too well. Even so, I agree it looks as if the size is not going to suit everybody, which is a pity. If it was 2 or 3 mm smaller, the large crown and pushers would have worked but as it is, it all looks a bit hard to live with - big Breitling size.

    that is indeed very nice

really like that white dial Ventura as well

The lugs are quite long so it will wear big, 40mm would have been more sensible I think.

This will be just like the Pan Europ LE that Hamilton did awhile ago, sell out quickly and never drop in price. I'm tempted and the size is good for me too.

Thickness? A lack of side view shots is always worrying. Nice watch though but maybe too big for many wrists.

It uses the H31 movement that in Pan Europ chrono, and while not quite as big as that, judging by a pic of back, the fact it is heavily dished, I suspect it's going to be around 14/15mm thick like the PE, so a fairly chunky piece.

It's a beautiful watch, but I'm not sure about paying £1750. Hamilton have always positioned themselves at a lower price point than this.
