Dear all,
I'm pleased to share with you my latest acquisition, the Tissot Navigator Yachting.
Nothing is particularly surprising or out-of-the-ordinary about this watch. It's from the early 70s and shares many characteristics with its contemporaries:
- a colourful dial
- a Lemania movement 1341 adapted by Tissot and called the caliber 2170, also used and adapted by Omega, Wakmann, Enicar, Hamilton etc.
- chunky case of 43mm
However, I think the combination and assemblage of these elements as well as its semi-rarity makes it a very charming watch. Most charming of all is the colourful count-down timer and orange hands which I've tried to bring out in the pictures below.
Because the Navigator Yachting shares so many characteristics with its Omega counterpart, some components are interchangeable such as the crystal. We can see this thanks to the tiny Omega logo in the middle of the crystal which was a delight to discover. You can spot this on the picture below, as well as the shadow it makes on the dial...cool!
Hope you enjoy :)
Very nice.

That's lovely. Is the case 43mm without the crown?
Very nice Hugo and pretty rare too. Does the central minutes counter fly back to zero? Can be an issue with these Lemania movements.
Really cool. Can you explain whats going on with all the hands?
I've seen a few different types of tissot navigators on various sites ,wouldn't mind one and yours looks smart

Im not sure if anyone is willing and/or able to work on automatic Lemania chronograph movements anymore, other than STS in the UK, unfortunately. Further afield, I think that Sinn, Tutima and Orfina will work on Lemania movements. However, I don't know if they would work on a Tissot or any watch other than their own.
Lovely watch, I have a more modern Tissot but would really like to have a vintage one like this one day.
I was recommended this repairer as a Lemania specialist, by another forum member. I have never used them so it's up to you to check them out, but they do seem to be highly recommended (and the link below is to a writeup of a service of a Tissot Seastar Chrono with a Lemania movement).

Lovely Tissot OP, the case on this model is definitely a few steps up from most of Tissot's offerings using auto-Lemania chronos, with the sunburst and polished sections, and inner-outer cases.
Your case seems especially crisp.
I like the plain dial too, those "hollow" indices are very effective.
The 1340 series movement is a fantastic thing, which is why it is the foundation of Breguets type XXI movement.

Thanks for your kind words!
Those are very interesting comments and I'm even prouder to wear it!
Indeed, the case is very strong. I like the cushion style which make sure it look quite bulky and contrasts well with the thin features of the dial.
Do you have any lemanias or tissots?
A bit different...
