What are they going to call them: Grand?

Now Grand Seiko are taking the Seiko name off the dials and are differentiating from the Seiko mothership. I'm expecting / hoping that the AD's will be discounting current Seiko branded stock in favour of the new branded stock.
If anyone sees this happening could we give a heads-up in this thread for those who may be interested.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a big discount - there are very few Grand Seikos sitting in the safes of UK dealers and I can't see them having a Christopher-Ward-style "oh-no-we-changed-the-logo-again" sale anytime soon.
Does this mean that existing watches wearing both logos will be more expensive - or less valuable? ;-) Crazy world we live in.
There's always a few going when Jura have a sale.
I got excited when I saw the thread title and thought there already was a clearance sale somewhere!
I doubt that will happen unfortunately, but I will be keeping a weather eye out for a discounted Spring Drive.
I'd definitely be interested, if any come up at reduced prices.
I've already got a couple of Seiko "keepers" in my collection, always room for one more though...

I read that one of the American ADs (possibly Timeless?) is intending to reduce the old stock to clear. I also once read of an US GS AD shipping to the UK. Wonder if it's the same one....?
I am getting the impression more would like the current style than the new.
If they execute it right (I haven't seen any pictures), which I have no doubt Seiko will, it could work really well. Until now, the disparity between the smooth, high-tech SEIKO logo and the antique Grand Seiko hasn't ever bothered me (which just goes to show that the graphic design department know their stuff), but I can totally see the aesthetic rationale behind this decision. As far as the business rationale, however, I'd love to hear someone dealing in brand management/recognition to chime in on this change.
Do any of you guys have experience of having a vintage Grand Seiko serviced? I have found a "cheap" 60s chronometer rated GS that is not working. In the end I'm suspecting it mightn't be that cheap after all ...

Well the new snowflake SBGA211G pictures are up on Jura for pre-order.
The dial looks kind of bare without the extra writing of the outgoing snowflake SBGA011. But maybe that's just because I kept looking at pictures of it and thinking - If Only I could afford?
I don't think the outgoing branded designs will command a premium in the future but I think there could be an opportunity to grab a good deal on them.
I like the 'old' style, but can see why it makes sense to change. The new style will cost more...quite a lot more from the first prices listed. So current GS models are cheaper anyway. In the longer term .....well, who knows. And most people who buy GS accept that you will take a hit if you sell too soon.
These days, I mentally 'write off ' the value of any watch I buy. They are toys for me, not investments. I just assume I will keep them. Saves all the worry....
Duncan should be your man, he's a member of this forum and my first port of call for vintage Seiko: https://thewatchbloke.co.uk

A phone call is the best way to communicate for a discount offer.
