Beautiful, stunning and very classy, congrats :-)
It must be six years ago now that I spotted someone outside The British Museum wearing a Patek Nautilus 5980. It was the first time Patek sports watches had come on to my radar, and I liked what I saw and decided to investigate further. Investigations revealed that the 5980 was a ridiculous price, but there were other versions with were slightly less ridiculous. And that led to a succession of purchases...5712, 5711, 5167, 5165, 3712 and 5167 (again) none of which lasted very long for one reason or another.
I'd pretty much decided these weren't for me and then I was offered the watch that had ignited my interest in the first place. After much agonising (my first house cost less than this) it arrived this week and here it is:
Will it last? Who knows but it's a stunning looking watch - to my eye anyway. It has a little more heft and presence than other Nautilus. Appreciate that sort of goes against the original concept a bit, but I really like it. Let's hope it's seventh time lucky.
Beautiful, stunning and very classy, congrats :-)
Very nice indeed, it is thick for a Nautilus but the chrono complication suits it so well (I love the touches of red on the sub dial) and if you have the wrist for it (unlike my skinny wrists) then I'm sure it wears well. Congratulations!
PS Great photos!
A stunning watch John and I hope this turns out to be the keeper. On a negative note, it is not very practical for wearing whilst dry stone walling - see, £100 watches have their place after all
Well done and keep it.
Lovely. Massive congratulations.
Great looking watch.
I've been tempted by a Nautilus for a while now and looking at a 5712. My AD has asked for a £1,000 deposit to go on a waiting list, which would be OK except I've never actually tried one, only seen them in pictures! I keep putting it off while I wait for the travelling non-working models to come round to my AD at the end of summer so I can handle one.
Puctures like this make me think I should just pay the deposit and get on with the wait. I know its a different model, but its truly stunning.
Very very nice!!!
Any wrist shots??
Congrats on your grail watch.
Love it !
Have the 5712, and truth is if I could have afforded the 5980 that would have been the one. The heft gives it real presence without being in your face
Some great pictures of a lovely watch John. Enjoy and hope it lasts.
That is stunning, hope its a keeper! Congrats and enjoy.
A lovely work of art, congratulations.
That looks terrific and I must take a closer look at PP.... congratulations.....

Very classy indeed. Congrats.
Lovely. The contrast of polished & brushed finish sets it off.
I love it! Shame that I can still remember the day I could have bought one new, with a healthy discount, but didn't have anywhere near the spare cash to do so :(
It's just a matter of time...
Congratulations.
The 5980 is my favourite from the Nautilus range.
I know, but if we all had perfect foresight we'd be...better off. There are loads of other watches we could have bought at a discount at the same time that would be worth less than half now. Probably the fact you didn't have the spare cash at the time stopped you buying one of those as well.
(You may have noticed I have developed a coping strategy for such thoughts!)
Nice addition! Would love one of those in rose gold, but that's only because of the 5712 in steel
Fabulous.
Congratulations on acquiring IMO the ultimate Nautilus
I've never really got these but that one looks fantastic, congratulations. I might have to start investigating the references now!

This is a lovely watch but for me, i much, much prefer the slim Nautiluses: 5711 or 5712.
Patek is about refinement.
I am not a massive fan of Patek's latest trend of making bigger and sometimes thicker watches.
